I don’t know what kind of SSD your MacBook uses.  If it’s a SATA this will work.  You can check compatibility using the lists on sites selling SSDs.

Help please. i’ve connected a kingston ssd to the cable and then connected to my brand new laptop. it only shows “usb to ata/atapi bridge” not thessd?

Is your ssd formatted? If it's not (new drives are not) then you need to load up disk management (search via windows search bar) and the drive will appear with unformatted space. You will need to tell it to format the drive and once done it should appear in explorer for use.

Will this work on ps5 with my ssd. Is it faster than using a usb 3.0 connecter ?  Thanks

I would like to help but what are you trying to achieve, do you want to transfer data or a game from the SSD to the PS5 ? or vice versa, if the connections are right then there should be no harm in plugging it in but you also have to bear in mind the transfer speed from where to where has to be capable, get yourself on some PS5 forums before you go for it.

I haven't tested it like that, but as long as the drive is formatted in a filetable that your phone understands, it should be able to communicate. It depends if your phone's USB c can provide sufficient power to the SSD. Thus cable does not have an external supply, so the device it's plugged into needs to be able to supply sufficient voltage.
