Better than expected - But Had Low Expectations

Based on its reviews, was very apprehensive about buying this. Expected difficult setup. Expected bad latency. Expected just wouldn't work. Expected bad documentation. Actual: setup was no more difficult than setting up most any IP camera I've gotten, even way off-brand cameras. Actual: latency no different that controlling any IP camera through its own IP software. Actual: works just fine - quite well actually for the money compared to other options costing over 3x this. Actual wrt documentation: the actual content/information is helpful, though still moderately horrible. The access to that information SUCKS. Really?!? a QR code is all you get to download the PDF manual. And then I can only get it on my phone. And it won't even let me forward the pdf to myself by email or such to get a printed copy. Probably I just don't know how to do it, but this alone IMO accounts for the bad reviews it gets. Come-on China, you can do better. If you can make this product, you can do better making the virtual documentation easily accessible. Yes - the manual is typical terrible english. But that's no worse than usual for such products. Access is your problem. Having said that will probably buy another one or two units for other installations/applications.FYI re setup:0 Connect a real hdmi monitor so you can actually read the menus. Connect a usb mouse - DO NOT try to use the joystick to enter alpha-numeric data. Only way to reboot is unplug pwr cord.1 Set up with your camera with a static IP using your camera control sw for the camera. Make sure no other device on your LAN is using that IP before assigning it to the camera. Must use hard wired, not wifi connection to camera. Not in setup, not once operational. so there's that.2 Connect IP camera directly from camera into this joystick controller via the RJ45 ethernet jack.3 Then press controller's Search button. Or left click mouse. Select search to get to the search sub-menu. Select search again. It should find your camera.4 Check the box on the line with the camera. Select save. It will tell you now to set the user id and password.5 Cancel out of the sub-search menu which takes you back to the main camera IP setup scrn on the controller. On that screen check the enable box for the added camera.6 To enter the ID/PW it is best to use a mouse to first clear the user id box then with mouse select the right alpha numeric screen until find the correct set of characters. Much like entering data into an old phone menu.7 Once both ID and PW are entered click save. It should then connect automatically to the camera.8 If not check your id and pw. When all correct, controller should be able to pick them up. Even if ID/PW are the same as for other camera you have entered, re-enter them for EACH new camera added.Disconnect the camera and repeat for next camera - setting each one up with a direct wired-ethernet connection to the controller. Must have a different static IP on each of the cams to do this. After all cams are set one at a time, can then connect them into your LAN and controller will still find them. Your router should assign them to the static IPs set up in the cameras - unless you set a static IP that is being used by some other device. Then it's a do-over with different IPs.Maybe this will help.

Controller Doesn't Work

I ordered this item hoping to use it for my PTZ camera. The controller never recognized the camera. I read the online manual and it was very vague and not helpful. I'm returning the controller because it doesn't work. I don't see where any support is available.

No precise camera control.

The controller does not have a speed adjustment button so if you are trying to frame up a shot or make snail adjustments, you don't want this controller. Everything else about the controller was great. Camera switching was easy, setting presets no problem other than bouncing the camera around left and right - up and down about 2 minutes before you get the alignment you want because you can't slowly position the camera where you want it. (Which I can do with the controller that has no display screen. ) The screen is great, the "F" or function buttons are set and not modifiable. F1 is channels 1-4, F2 is 5-6 and so on.

Don’t waste your time

This product is about the worst I’ve ever seen. Very cheaply built and doesn’t come with a manual, in which there is a QR code merely attached to a bag inside the box with no explanation as to what it’s there for. I instinctively scanned it and was navigated to a cloud storage with the user manual being downloaded to my phone. The instructions are clearly written by someone who can’t translate their instructions into English. My cameras are ONVIF and couldn’t for the life of me get the controller to authenticate to the cameras no matter what I tried. Gave up and returned this cheaply made POS. I purchased a HikVision PTZ Controller instead. BTW, why is there a piece of scotch tape stuck to the display screen as if it was overlooked at the sweatshop (I mean factory).
