Holding strong at year 2
These worked well last spring and held up nicely in the garage over winter. I'm using them for the season 2 here in Ga. We are experiencing a bad drought and I sure don't want my new holly trees dying bc of it.

Good product, sturdy and easy to use.
These tree rings worked great, during the hot weather this summer. Kept my trees alive.

suboptimal
Agree with previous issues of this is difficult and slow to fill and does not drain well on ground that's not flat

Very good - Sometimes clogs
I have 14 of these in concurrent use. I fill them all at least once most days. About once a week one will be clogged and doesn’t empty. I use my hose to reverse flush the drip valves and that takes care of it. The other thing about these is that on a hot day (~85F+) the fill opening can get soft and deformed making it hard to screw the cap on after filling. It can still be done by squeezing it back into circular-ish shape. The nice brown color fades very quickly. I like these a lot. They are less visually distracting and are less likely to touch or lean on the trunk than other kinds. The 20 gallon capacity is good. They do work best on level ground. If not level, they don’t empty fully. A hole tore in one, not even at a seam, and I don’t know how that happened as it was on the underside. I still use it, it just empties faster.

33% failure rate
I have bought three sets of these. The first was great. The second set, one of them fails to drain. Same with third set. Quality control is poor. When they work, they are great, but a 33% failure rate is very high.

great for trees with close-to-ground canopies
It appears the manufacturer has fixed the problem with the size of the inflation hole--it's plenty big to fit a standard hose. The material is also durable; good quality and construction. Because few terrains are even, I suggest putting the inflation hole at the top of an incline so gravity pulls the water toward the two release valves at the side at the same rate. Bag will need to be massaged to release the water that collects at the bottom, but on even surfaces, the water release lasted about a day.

Real Time Saver
I am surprised that this only has 3.9 stars overall. I gave it five stars and would give it even a sixth star if I could. These are just as described. They do hold 20 gallons of water, but I am sure I am not filling them all the way. There is a hole to put in a stake or something to keep it from blowing away, but it does not come with that particular stake or stick. I have not had a problem with them blowing away, but I imagine they could in very strong winds if they are empty. These are a game changer for us because we bought 16 of them and it saves us more than one hour of watering by hand. I highly recommend these, and I would buy them again.

List of gripes
Same problems everyone else has listed. These stink on anything that isn’t flat ground, and the drain holes have to be oriented just right or the water just collects. Lastly, and my biggest problem with them, is that the filling holes are too big to hold a hose, so you have to sit there and hold the end with the filling hole up in the air so all the water doesn’t just gurgle right back out of the bag, AND they don’t offer a garden hose adapter OR indicate the specific size of the hole or its thread style so you can try to source one on your own. Put your money into some other tree hydration solution.
