Durable & Cute
I have 2 medium sized dogs and one giant dog and two of them love these toys. The other one likes to play with other dogs much more than she does dog toys so I'm not really surprised that she isn't that into them. The wierd dog and the giant dog LOVE these toys and play with them daily. They have taken both the squirrels and the "tree trunk" outside, played tug-of-war with them and even buried them and the toys are still looking pretty good after a couple of months of rough, frequent play. Two of the squirrels are now without their squeakers as the giant dog loves to dissect them and remove the squeakers. This isn't a problem, I actually expected he would have removed all of the squeakers by now and I bought three additional squirrels because I really expected these toys to wear out much more quickly. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well they are hanging in there. Of the six squirrels I ordered five are present and accounted for and the dogs play with all of them, even the ones giant dog has disemboweled. Yes, the squirrels are on the small side. I was not surprised by this as I took the time to read the complete product description. I don't know how well other larger dogs would like these toys, my giant dog is touched in the head but very smart and he loves them despite the size. I have never ordered Kyjen products before ordering this Hide-A-Squirrel toy and the replacement toys and I am thrilled that the toys are of such good qulaity and that my dogs are getting lots of "play" out of them. Even the one dog that doesn't like toys that much is entertained by them as she likes to chase the dogs that are playing with the toys and try to chew their legs off as they run. All my dogs are entertained and entertained dogs are dogs that are not running all over the neighborhood humping everything in sight or chewing holes in my socks. I would absolutely order Kyjen products again and I would order from this seller again. My items arrived one day before they were due and were packed appropriately. I would also reccommend both Kyjen and this seller to other dog owners and have already told my sister about these toys and how awesome they are. If I could give this product and this seller more than five stars I so would! *HERE'S MY REVIEW OF THE REPLACEMENT SQUIRRELS* This review is from: Kyjen Squeakin' Animals Replacement Squirrels for Hide-A-Squirrel Toy, 3-Pack - Large I bought these at the same time as I bought the Kyjen Hide-A-Squirel toy as I have 3 dogs and I figured at least one of the squirrels would get lost pretty quick leaving the dogs to squabble over the other two reamining squirrels. Ironically, all three of these squirrels are still present and accounted for though they are showing a bit of wear at this point. They are also covered with dog spit but as they are dog toys that is to be expected. I have 2 medium sized dogs and one huge dog. Two of the dogs play with these toys EVERY DAY and after almost 3 months they squirrels are just now starting to show noticeable wear. My dogs love to dissect their toys and remove the squeaker. If I am on the ball I find the squeaker and tie it up in a couple of pairs of old socks and return it to the dogs. This solves two problems: 1. The dogs are unable to injest the squeker and 2. I no longer feel obligated to try to find the mates to those socks. The dogs also love the squeaky sock toys and wiill still play with the squeakerless squirrel toy carcasses so this is truly a win-win situation. At this point, 2 of the 6 total squirrels I ordered are sans squeaker. Three out of the six are showing any real wear. One out of the six total looks like new, probably because it has been under the dresser for the past two months. So, these squirrels are smart as well, or at least one out of six is of above average intelligence. Well played, Kyjen, well played. These toys and the Kyjen Hide-A-Squirrel toy were all a big hit with my dogs, even with the dog that could care less about them because when I throw a squirrel for the other dogs to fetch, the dog who doesn't play with the toys chases the dogs that are running after the toy and screws with the slower dog by latching onto one of his hind legs and making him fall down. So, these toys entertain the dogs that actually play with them, the dog that couldn't care less about them, and me. That's getting the most possible bang for your buck right there! This is the first time I bought any of Kyjen's products and I would absolutely buy Kyjen products again as well as reccomend them to my dog-owning friends. These are awesome toys. Yes, the squirrels are on the small side but I was expecting that as I actually took the time to read the product description before I ordered them. My dogs do not care that the squirrels are kind of small and I don't believe that the size of the toys has any impact on their durability or function. These are awesome dog toys. If you don't get them for your dogs you are not a fun person and it's highly likely that your dog pees on you as you sleep. I sure would. I mean I would if I were your dogs. Buy the damn toys already!

Puppy Loves It!
This is a very cute toy! My 4-mo. old mini dachshund puppy loves playing with it. She keeps busy trying to get the squirrels out and also playing with the squirrels themselves. There are squeakers in the squirrels which is nice, but one of the squeakers did not work so that's the only negative comment about this toy. The quality seems good, is soft, and does not have any strong odor. Since my puppy is only 5 lbs., they toy is holding up well to her chewing for now. She is able to carry around the housing with the 3 squirrels inside, so the toy is fairly light.

Best Toy Ever!
UPDATE: Ones year later- 12/26/2013 - Some has loved this toy through three extra sets of squirrels. We finally got her a new whole set this year and you should see how she prances around with it, head up, all proud of herself. She even brought it to bed with her. This is a toy we have encouraged her to play with. We hide the squirrels inside and she has a blast pulling them out. Sometimes she takes one and walks around showing it to everybody. Definitely a win-win toy! She loves her hide-a-squirrel! GET ONE - highly commended. I have a 70 pound 2 year old female black lab who normally takes any stuffed toy and destroys it in 5 minutes. I got the Ginormous Hide-A-Squirrel toy with trepidation on a lightening deal just after Thanksgiving here on Amazon. We opened it for her on Christmas. Much to my surprise, it has turned into one of her favorite toys, and instead of destroying the little squirrels she takes out (which DO squeak!!!!), she carries them around very gently squeaking as she goes. I'm not sure who gets more joy out of this toy, our dog or us watching her play with it. It has been over a week since she's had this toy, she keeps bringing it on the bed with her (yes, she sleeps in our bed!) and sleeps up against it. We had her spayed quite young as we didn't get her to breed, but for her parentage which was very good as far as personality. We simply wanted a nice dog we could trust around people, especially children. However, as anyone who has raised a lab knows, they generally aren't very gentle on toys. We figure she is treating them like the babies she never had. She will often take them out all over the floor and we put them back in again - as I said, it's a fun toy for both dog and parents! She has not yet chewed the nest or any of the babies and I am currently buying three more babies here because there is room for more in there (you get six with the largest toy) and in case she does decide to finally eat one. You never know with a lab! Highly recommended for any dog - definitely get the smaller version for smaller dogs and the largest one for the bigger dogs. Hours of fun. ADDED COMMENT: Updated 1/15/2013: Toy still going strong - still loving her "babies" in the nest. We now put other toys in there for her to find. The other day, we put in a ball and she had more fun putting it in and taking it out. I had to write though that my two best girlfriends think it's the best toy ever and have a blast gathering up the "babies" and watching her take them out - over and over again! We have decided this is the best dog/human toy ever made!

Adorably cute dog toy -- but my poor big guy thinks it's broken when the critters come out
My poor dog. He totally adores his stuffed animals and treats them as gently as his 120 lb awkward self can until the day that the stuffing poofs from the seams or a part falls off. When that happens, he brings me his destroyed toy with a desperate but hopeful look in his eyes that I can fix it. I keep a needle threaded with heavy upholstery thread for that very purpose, salvaging the sweet boy's damaged favorites until they can no longer be repaired and have to be pitched (a day of heartbreak for our Ferg). When I ordered this Hide-A-Squirrel toy, it hadn't occurred to me that he might think he'd broken his new toy whenever the squirrels come out. But that's what happens. As always, he was delighted to be handed a new stuffed toy. But when he happened to latch onto a squirrel's head that was sticking out of a hole -- and, OMG!, the squirrel came OUT, Mom!!! -- the poor goofball was mortified. And brought all the parts to me to "fix" what he thought he had damaged. So, it now seems like my days are filled with endlessly sticking that one dang squirrel back in its hole (he stops playing, begins worrying, and brings it to me once one single squirrel comes out). I've tried showing him many times how they all come out and how they easily push back in, but the dismay on his face remains. I've tried encouraging him to play with them as four separate toys, but he knows better and won't stop whining until I put them back in. I'll give him a few more weeks to figure out the intent of this toy; but, barring him getting a clue, I'll plan on stitching those #@%! squirrels securely inside the plush tree trunk so he can relax and all will be right in his world again. In fairness, I'm not going to poorly rate this Hide-A-Squirrel just because I have a neurotic German Shepherd who worries. It's a well-made and adorably cute plush dog toy and I could see it being a lot of fun for most dogs. I only wish I'd found it while my ancient little terrier was still living. She would have loved to yank those little critters out and shake them. The individual squirrels are sweet and nicely made, although oddly striped like a chipmunk.

Favorite dog puzzle toy
This has been one of our favorite puzzle dog toys of all time. Our Australian Shepherds and Golden Retriever really like this toy. We have purchased it in Junior, Large and Ginormous and purchased replacement squirrels for it. The dogs play with it as a puzzle toy and also like to play fetch with the tree stump. SHAPE I don't expect that these puzzle toys are good for flat-nosed dogs but they work well for our Australian Shepherds. Of all the Outward Hound puzzle toys, our dogs seem to have liked this the most. I think it may have to do with the squirrel tails which are easy to bit on to. SIZE As I stated above, we have purchased this in three sizes. One of our toy-size Aussies loves the Junior size but is happy to play with the squirrels from the other sizes. The Large is more appropriate for our our standard Aussie and our Golden loved the Ginormous. VERSATILITY The squirrels can be used in any of the Outward Hound/Kyjen toys or as stand alone toys. We stuff eggs, balls, birds, squirrels and bees into any of the toys. Also, you can buy replacement squirrels, birds, balls, etc for a fair price. DURABILITY Played with as a puzzle toy - simply getting the squirrels out - the stump can last a long time. The Junior size one we purchased three years ago is still going strong. The Ginormous got played with in fetch, tug-of-war (a little bit) and finally got chewed on and ripped up. It lasted a long time, though. The Large is still around after three years, albeit looking a little worse for wear. It's still fun to stuff whatever little toys are in it which gives our dog something to do for a few minutes. Most of the squirrels are still around as they are too small for the big dogs to rip into and too big for the small dog to do much damage - plus he mostly carries it around and/or tosses it in the air. PRICE Amazon offers these toys at a fabulous price. I've purchased many Outward Hound toys at our local pet store as I like to support local businesses. However, I purchase them here as well because they are often half the price. For the price it is a great toy that will provide lots of fun and stimulation for your dog.

Best toy ever
This is the best toy ever! We bought it for our 8 year old Golden Retriever - he never had a hide toy and figured heโd get bored with it once he got the squirrels out but itโs been endless fun. He gets so excited when he gets one out & still has not ripped any of the toy! I would 100% recommend

3 months and he still loves it
His first puzzle toy. Duke is about 45 pounds and a Blue Catahoula with lots of energy. It's been 3 months now, and he still goes and digs it out of his toy bucket. He loves to find the squirrels and pull them out.

Would not buy again.
Cute toy but the four squirrels described were only three. Squeakers are loud. Thought They would each have their own platform to make getting them out easier. But they are just stuffed in the center. I have a mini old Schnauzer and she was not interested.
