The Right Tool For the Right Job.
These are excellent quality tools. I bought this set at the end of last year. I added the simple turner and hollower and the short square turner for pen turning. There's nothing wrong with the handle which is very nice, but I don't use it. It's too long for my work area and I don't turn large projects. Also, I don't want to have to remove and change the turners every time. I made my own handles for all five turners. I don't have the swan neck hollower yet but may buy it later. I also have some Easy Wood carbide tools but no larger size ones except for their parting tool. Easy Wood also makes very good quality tools and they use aluminum shanks. I like the Harrison HSS shanks better. There is definitely a learning curve to using carbide tools. Kerry does do an excellent Youtube demo showing the capabilities of these tools. The shear hollower is a little harder to learn, but it can be learned with some practice. I agree that these tools are easy to learn. What I like is that I have good control with them. Another reviewer complained about not being able to remove a nub with them. I just did that using a smaller EWT diamond detailer. I did discover that I had to use a very light touch. The light touch is what gave me the control I want and I think that's the secret of not getting a catch. Also, you have to pay close attention to what you're doing. Helloooo, you can't and shouldn't be day dreaming when using these tools. Make sure you have good lighting and watch very carefully. The shavings may build up on top of the cutter. I use an old paint brush, attached to the lathe with magnets, to wipe off the cutters. You can buy replacement cutters, but you can also save some $ by doing some sharpening with a flat diamond stone (cost < $25). Just rub the cutter top about 6 times or so on the stone. Even though I already had some tools, I was still inexperienced. These tools helped me make some nice projects and now I'm more confident and proficient with my "traditional" turning tools also. I like using the carbide tools and traditional tools and I use both on just about every project that I do. These carbide tools have really helped me in situations where I really needed to be very precise. They are a great addition to the turning world, IMO. Notice that I gave 5 stars even though I'm not using the interchangeable handle. That's because the handle is very good quality even though I've chosen not to use it.

Wow!!
I am fairly new to wood turning and the first set of tools I got were very cheap and poor quality. I upgraded to a nicer set an used them for a year or so then seen these used on a You Tube video and was intrigued so i ordered them to give them a try. all I can sasy is WOW!!! these are amazing and worth every cent I paid for them. I have turned more projects in a couple of months with these than i have the previous two years, they are tht nice and easy to use.

good tools
The tools are well made and work like a charm. I plan to put wood handles on them since I did not like the metal handle that came with them.

High quality, butโฆ
This is a nice kit in that the cutters are sharp and accurate, the tool is really good quality and the grip is comfortable, but I have a couple things that Iโm not very happy with. -This I didnโt consider before buying, but the length of the tool with handle attached is too long. 26โ compared to 16โ of my standard set. The extra 10 inches is a big change and is too much, especially in certain positions such as cutting the inside of a bowl. Iโm always having to dodge the tail stock. -This I did consider this before buying, but Iโm finding the single handle with multiple attachments to be inconvenient. Itโs not difficult to change, just inconvenient when compared to my old set where I just grabbed another tool.

Above and beyond
I received my order and discovered one of the tools was not what I thought it would be. I contacted the company and explained that I was under the impression I was getting one thing but received another. Anne apologized for the confusion and explained I had actually ordered what they sent. Rather than leave me hanging or feeling frustrated, she offered to send me the additional tool tip at no cost and said they were happy to do it. This was clearly my fault and they had no obligation to take care of me like that, but they have now earned a customer for all of my woodworking tools. By the way, if have used the tools I received and couldn't be happier with the quality.

package of 4 Carbide wood turning tools with handle
It arrived ahead of promised date was opened before I got home and was producing turning when I walked in the door. They cut through walnut like a hot knife to butter. I'm told the handle is user friendly with easy grip well balanced feeling. very easy to change tools. Only short coming is there is no tool to change the cutters down the road. luckily he has many tips to change cutters when they need it some day. This was a Birthday gift and I know he is very pleased with it's performance. Would tells others worth the money. PER Birthday boy he is 63 yrs old and happy happy happy!!! He has used them on maple, oak, box elder, red cedar, walnut ,american chestnut, birch with no problems.

Carbide Lathe Tool
This set includes 4 lathe chisels each with a replaceable carbide cutter. Cutters are very sharp so be careful when removing protective cover. Tools do a very good job of removing material. I have used these tools on soft and hard woods with no issues. It did take me several practice sessions with the hollowing tool to be comfortable using it on an expensive piece of exotic wood but once I got familiar with using the tool I really enjoy using it. The handle that comes with the set is well weighted as is but additional weight can be added easily if desired. I ended up ordering additional handles for each tool and am glad I did. It makes it easy to go from one tool to the other without the need to stop and remove/install a tool when turning a project piece.
