Great replacement part. It solved my door lock issues on my 09 sportwagen. The emergency, manual lock lever (red part in the picture of original part) is different than the original. The lever will still function, but it will be more difficult to operate through the hole in the frame. Hopefully I will never need to use it 🙂 Note: when testing this part, be sure to have both the lock actuator and the window motor units plugged in, as the lock won't function properly without the brains in the window motor unit. I learned this the hard way.

Works great. Replaced an intermittent lock that went bad. Would not recommend installing if you don’t have experience working on cars. Outer door skin has to be completely removed to replace old actuator. Dust shield and small 2” cable needs to be reused from old actuator. Test new latch BEFORE you close the door. :)

It fits like OEM. The first one I ordered came broken, but my replacement was good. Not as smooth moving as the OEM part but it gets the job done. I put this on the back driver side door of my 2002 VW Golf TDI MK4. It does kind of suck to put on but it isnt the part's fault.

The driver's side rear door lock in my 2007 Jetta was not working - a common problem across a number of VW models. The Door Lock Latch Actuator 3B4839015A for the Rear Left Hand Driver Side 2007 VW Jetta was exactly what I needed at a very good price. Aside from that, I needed really good instructions on how to replace the old one. Instead, I had a fair amount of trial and error. So buy this part, and get good instructions for installing it!

I also reviewed the passenger side latch and wrote this: My doors are like new. Maybe better than new. I used this replacement part on my 2004 Jetta and it made such a difference in the quality of life. The door locks and unlocks reliably now, and the outside pull is so smooth. Installation was not straightforward however. The entire door must be disassembled, and since I did both rear doors, I got the hang of it and did the second replacement in about 2 hours. The first took me a week of head scratching, even with the shop manuals and online videos. If you're handy, I'd suggest trying it. You have to reuse several parts, and the one hiccup I made was inserting the outside door pull cable into the wrong side of the new latch mechanism.

Hardest part for unhooking the broken actuator from cabled connected to inside door lever. There is a difference in the part that keeps door locked when car is locked. I learnt there is a setting where you can open the door from outside even if car is locked. This would trigger an alarm. That mechanism was broken in my existing actuator.

Installation of this part is what it is, and shouldn't be a consideration for review here. This latch, when locked, should be able to be opened manually from interior. However, this the latch becomes stuck shut and impossible to open by any means. I tested this enough times to know this is a defective piece that jambs every time using interior lever only. Will function using key and key fob. There's a long and sorry story here on removing this latch with DOOR LOCKED but I got it out and am returning for refund.
