The Redemption Collection: Redemption / Remember / Return / Rejoice / Reunion (Baxter Family Drama--Redemption Series)

I am only almost through the first story and am in love with Karen Kingsbury and am a big fan of the amazing Sandra Burr! Nobody can beat her as a reader! She reads and creates the characters like magic. I am transported to the lives of each one of the characters and she is so convincing! When the mom or the dad or a little boy or young girl talk... I am picturing them because she makes them so real. I drive almost two hours a day back and forth to work and I am so in love with this writer and the series. I don't dread my drives anymore. My wish would be that all of these books be transferred to MP3 formats and I will definitely keep buying them all! I was a little weary about my purchase because another reviewer said that the last disc was bad and so Amazon sent another and it was also bad (why wouldn't they check first? Seems like a LOT of trouble to go through twice!) I will be so disappointed if that is the case here because I have had one MP3 sent to me twice with both not working and just gave up. But to give less stars for book it's self seems wrong. I am ready to buy every one of her books that are on MP3 format! FIVE stars before I even finish the first one. I am so excited that there are more. This first book about redemption is so well written. It takes you through each character's perspective as it introduces future main characters and has me hooked. Every time I get into my car I am excited now! It is like looking forward to a favorite show in my head each time I drive to and from work and on longer trips, I don't dread them anymore. This story has already blessed me. It is not contrived at all. I kept jumping back and forth feeling frustrated with Kari's decision and it shows how you are blessed when you follow God's leading but that it's not as easy as some formula, this story weaves in and out of your heart like a fine tuned instrument. I totally recommend it! If you are tired of reading about every move your favorite characters make in bed and in vivid detail you will find this writing refreshing. There still is plenty of passion but with class and taste. I will be back to update and tell you if the last disc works... even if it doesn't for the price four books is a great deal!

I began reading first the Prequel because I was looking for a Christian fiction to read and my maiden name is Baxter. What a delight to find this family of Baxters! Well, not all exactly a delight. I found myself occasionally wanting to have one of those long talks with those Baxter kids! One note: While I found the books very well written, even riveting, I found that I didn’t really care much for the TV series. They were too much like Soaps for my taste. Sorry.

If you have not had a chance to read or listen to the Redemption Series by Karen...this is the one you need to get. As other reviewers have mentioned though, the audio is abridged and that might pose a problem for some. I had read the books first and so I was able to follow what was going on. Though I still would not discount the CD series. Karen's writing is a blessing and encouragement In this series she follow the multi generational family of the Baxters. Through the story, you come to see a family that deals with real issues and conflict and pain and misunderstandings. Sometimes in Christian fiction, you don't get that honesty. For me, Karen was able to draw me into each character that I felt like I knew the family very well. They were a diverse group of family members. I just did not want the story to end. I re read the series twice and then purchased these CD's I ended up donating them to our local library as I wanted to share this story with people who are looking for good writing that is not filled with violence and sex. It is refreshing to find such an author.

This collection of books were super great to read. I loved every part of them and the characters were genuinely portrayed. The plot was full of twists and turns and I had a hard time putting the books down until I finished them all. Looking forward to the next collection involving the Baxter family.

There were times that I couldn't stop reading, and there were times I couldn't pick up the book. But I had to finish. So glad I did. Thank you for a beautiful book !!!

I was going to review each book separately, but this is not so much a 5 book series as it is one VERY long book of overlapping stories, which is left with an unfinished story at the end. This is my first Karen Kingsbury book (series). This one is co-authored by Gary Smalley so it may not have been the best choice for a first book by Karen Kingsbury for me. I say this because Gary is a counselor and I read fiction more for pleasure. I do really appreciate an undercurrent of faith; that’s why Julie Lessman has got to be my current favorite author – because she does such a good job of combining faith and passion. I do look forward to reading more of Karen’s books because I have a feeling that the books that she’s authored by herself may do just that. In this book however, ‘the message’ being conveyed to the reader was so important to the authors that they didn’t want it to be missed and it was spelled out repeatedly…to the point that I found myself skimming, rather than reading, many of the paragraphs. I liked the characters and the stories. It did get a bit repetitive – repetitive thoughts and feelings – and I’m guessing that’s because of it being a study, not just a fictional book. It covers just about every situation a person could face and how a Christian might get through it. And also frequently addressed believers who stray and return. The thoughts and feelings are what you’d expect to experience in the given situations… and the outcomes as well. Sometimes God answers our prayers the way we want and other times, we need to accept His way/plan.

I loved reading this series. The books kept my attention just wanted to find out what was next for the characters. I look forward to reading the next series.

Like the fact its so human, but we can overcome our problems by facing who we are, then make the necessary changes. People are not necessarily thinking what we think they are. Be not afraid to ask questions to assure we are correct in our thinking. Do not enable wrong thinging - seek answers! The answers are not blowing in the wind, but in a relationship with our heavey Father, who shows us how to love and forgive others as well as ourselves, which then brings us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, n temperance, of such there is no law! Rejoice in our accomplishments with the good, good life, given by humbling yourself for the answers.

Before I owned a kindle I bought these books and loved them. Now that I have a kindle this was my first purchase. Even though I read these over 5 years ago, this is an amazing story and so happy Amazon sold the series in a collection.

I have really loved reading about the Baxters, the twists and how they handles the roadblocks in life.
