No Problems Here... Great Game!
This is my first review. I am writing it because I stumbled upon NCAA on here and noticed how low its rating was. It seems like a lot of folks are having some trouble with freezing. I have played the game over 200 hours so far and have not had it freeze on me once. I'm not calling everyone else liars, but I felt it was worth sharing my experience. Positives -Great new Passing system. The passing in this game is unbelievable. In NCAA 12, defenders would come from nowhere to pick off your passes or swat them down. The passing this year is so good that you can actually read the eyes of a Linebacker to know whether you can make a pass or not. -Dynasty Mode. They have updated the Coaching Carousel. My favorite thing to do is start as a 1-Star school, move up to a mid-tier school, and eventually end up at one of the powerhouse programs. That is entirely possible in this years game. NCAA 12 just wasn't as refined. I also enjoy the new recruiting point system. It does take longer, but you will have a better understanding of what you are doing. -Animations. The animations in this game are fantastic. There are so many new ones. I love the new catch animations on the sideline, corner of the end zone, diving catches, etc. They go nicely with the new passing system. Negatives -Blocking. Blocking in general is one part of the game that I wish would be improved, particularly run blocking. There are too many times where you hand the ball off only for your running back to never make it out of the back field. Also, there are too many long runs. They kind of offset each other, but the game would be more realistic if they improved one, and lessened the other. -Ratings need to matter more. If I have a 99 Left Tackle and he is matched up with a 65 Right Defensive End, the DE should stand no chance of getting a sack. Also, I should be able to run best when going left, since I have the best LT in the country. It's not really the case. I just wish ratings mattered a bit more than they do.

Positive review
Hello everyone I love the heisman mode on this years version! I always loved watching Barry Sanders play and it is fun to use him on this game along with the other heisman winners. That is the BEST option to me on this years version. It seems to me EA tries to improve little things every year and I really enjoy this years version. The animations seem to have improved as well. It makes me curious to see what they do to the 2014 version. The option plays on here are also improved to me as well on offense. I have noticed the AI is also improved on defense I do not know but to me the secondary (cornerbacks and linebackers) cover alot better when playing in single player mode. Thanks for reading my review and I hope it helps. Tyler Franz

NCAA Football 13 Plays it Safe to Mixed Results
EA Sports played it safe with NCAA Football 13 by addressing some legacy issues while adding a highly marketable mode with the Heisman Challenge. Unfortunately for veterans of the series the game will feel all too familiar and those tempted primarily by the allure of legends may find themselves somewhat unsatisfied with the path they're being led down. NCAA Football 13 is a product as rich in content as it is uninspired in its execution. What follows will act as more of an overview than a detailed review - that is still to come. As a whole the game could be best described as mediocre and inoffensive while still offering a respectable amount of depth and variety in modes. Fans of the series will not find much new - unless Heisman Challenge mode provides intrigue - while the lack of advancement elsewhere is immediately evident. Dynasty does come through with some worthwhile additions but the reach there becomes more limited. Aspects like play action, pass trajectories, screen passes, and non-psychic defensive backs provide the improvement on the field. They represent significant advancements but at the same time it's hard to get all that excited about those things which should have been addressed long ago. Issues with the gameplay however were quickly identified. Poor safety play might be the most glaring of the bunch but at times deficient offensive line blocking along with the CPU being inept running the option and out of shotgun also stand out. User swatting or pick attempts with defensive backs appears to be terribly unresponsive allowing for some passes to be completed without any contesting of the ball. The CPU has also demonstrated some poor clock management and SuperSim is still busted. Otherwise the game plays fairly clean with solid balance between offense and defense. Recognizing just how many problems there are none really will be all that startling to those used to the NCAA series. They can at least be somewhat overlooked, especially considering the actual improvements that are present, but will understandably create some frustration as well. More though should be expected of the game than just being adequate. There seems to be no point to the addition of motion blur other than to make the graphics somewhat worse and to act as a constant slight annoyance. Visually the game is still spectacular despite that. Presentation is less effective with a mishmash of broadcast style shots with replays and post-play scenes that come from cameras on the field that don't exist. Even though there is a disconnect in the post-play scenes - reaction shots often come from a totally different part of the field than when the play ended - at least it's not as utterly embarrassing as what was on display last year. Players still can't seem to walk around without bumping into each other but at least the focus isn't consistently on those interactions. The additions to Dynasty mode are worthwhile. In particular the ESPN Studio Updates and Bottom Line Ticker are effective in making the games within Dynasty feel more important and connected to the other results around the country. However the updates become bland with audio sometimes poorly stitched together and when in the process of playing actually glancing down at the ticker could act as a distraction. More time will have to be spent recruiting but thus far the dynamic pitches, enhanced phone calls, and new scouting have added some much needed spice to the process. Where the NCAA series has failed the most in recent years - and continues to do so with the latest iteration - is in providing a true representation of the college football experience. This is particularly the case in the audio area where crowd noise is often flat and in general doesn't have the effect that one would expect. The lead devs were at the Notre Dame vs Michigan game last year and still couldn't translate that experience to the game which is disheartening. Player reaction scenes are still weak and more often than not feel disconnected from what had just taken place. It's unbelievable how many teams have their uniforms omitted or incorrect. Commentary has grown stale but with the departure of Erin Andrews maybe EA will have the motivation to revamp it in the booth and not limit it just to the sideline. Certainly an argument can be made that the resources spent on Heisman Challenge could have been put to better use elsewhere. Regardless it should be judged for what it is rather than what could have or even should have been. Heisman Challenge is a fairly inoffensive mode that lacks a compelling hook unless there is emotional attachment to one or more of the players. Even then once inside the mode it becomes a simple game of racking up obscene stats with players that aren't true replications of their past selves and that ultimately overshadows the worthwhile attempt from EA at paying them their due respects. Online Play for NCAA Football 13 can be defined as a strength while still being indicative of the larger problem being faced by the series. Though the game performance is solid, and Online Dynasty remains extremely impressive, the suite of features feels more stale than ever due to a lack variety now having gone five years deep once NCAA 14 is reached without any notable additions. There's value to be had with NCAA Football 13 - there remains a rich array of content and commendable depth to Dynasty mode. However those who play NCAA every year may struggle to identify what exactly would make it a must-have product.

Football Season is back!!! (Well I keep hearing about the Issues)
This right here basically kicks off the 2013 Football season for me. I didn't buy last years game, didn't buy Madden 12 either, I said I would wait for this year. It was definitely worth the wait, I always love the gaming experience NCAA Football delivers. I prefer College Football for many reasons and the game never disappoints me. Now get ready for some Football! EDIT: So I'm editing my review because I see a lot of reviews talking about the bugs in the game. I've heard it from other websites as well. I haven't really experienced it that much myself but with certain bugs I have found this resolution works. DELETE the Tuning update. The tuning update you are required to download so you can play online. This tuning update has caused a lot of problems, but once I (and everyone else as I understand) deleted the Tuning update, it made the game run a lot smoother. Other than that, I don't really know about the freezing issues. EA always sacrifices gameplay for other stupid updates. It's getting worse nowadays.

Similar to 2012, but Dynasty changes are worth the money
This hasn't changed a whole lot from 2012, but that's actually a good thing in my opinion. The biggest changes are in presentation and dynasty. Both are welcome additions and add a lot to the game. It feels like you're watching an ESPN broadcast now with updates from other games going on around the country. Recruiting has changed too, but for the good. I really like the scouting feature a lot. I could go on, however most of what I could say you can read on the box. Overall the game is great and a lot of fun if you enjoy college football.

New Heisman Challenge Does Little to Change a Familiar, But Still Fun, Game
The Madden and NCAA Football series have both been criticized for their lack of innovation upon release of the next iteration of the game for years now; NCAA Football 11 did some to change that perception, but NCAA Football 12 kept the same outward appearance, although it did change some gameplay features on the inside. In place of another major overhaul, however, NCAA 13 opted for some new features and animations, making the game more immersive than ever, but doing little to change the game's usual formula. The new feature this year is Heisman challenge, a glorified Road to Glory mode that allows the player to step in to the shoes of a former Heisman Trophy winner such as Desmond Howard, Barry Sanders, or Charlie Ward, and compete in seasons on any team you wish. Inevitably this will lead to some disgusting combinations, such as Archie Griffin on Michigan or Carson Palmer on Notre Dame, but dwelling on that will only make matters worse. The Heisman Challenge's staple is reaction time, or bullet time, slowing down the game so the player can make cuts or throws with their head instead of quick reactions. In some cases, this is extremely helpful, but it also makes gameplay a little too easy at some levels. Heisman Challenge is definitely something to check out, but it won't keep you entertained for too long. Dynasty has also seen some under the hood improvements. New recruiting options and features make each game in the season more important, as an underdog win over a top 25 opponent will net you some well-earned popularity with the recruits. This is a very welcome addition, and something which many have been wishing was part of the game for a while. More recruiting options are available for the player as well; Scouting is now an essential part of recruiting. You can see a player's ratings through the season, and target recruits based on your findings instead of being given a base grade. Calling recruits also leads to new gameplay options, and can help swing a recruit towards your school, if you're good enough. In game studio updates, provided by Rece Davis, improve the game's ESPN atmosphere, making it feel even more like you're watching the big game on television; the ESPN ticker gives you the scores from around the nation, and priority score alerts make it even easier to follow the big upsets of the heavy hitting game between top 5 teams. Road to Glory saw some minor attention this year adding in new challenges as a college player. Despite the lack of a major overhaul it is still as fun as ever; leading your own high school player to the starting spot on a college team is extremely exciting. RTG may even be a little more difficult this year if you choose. It also touts the new reaction time used in the Heisman challenge, and contains better goals to pursue than past iterations, creating a more challenging game. EA is touting the new animations that have been added to the game, with new receiving and throwing animations being brought into the game to improve realism, and motion blur being added as well. The new animations make the game more lifelike to be sure, and make the players look and feel more athletic, instead of moving about the field in a fashion similar to robots attempting to play American football. Motion blur never seems to be an integral part of the game, however, only popping up on replays and in between plays. Fans do have motion blur, but that seems less important than introducing motion blur in gameplay, and seeing a fan pump their fist with motion blur never made me gaze in wonder at the feat that EA achieved. Defenses are not the omnipotent beasts they once were, and neither are receivers, for that matter. You need to make sure a receiver is looking for the ball before you throw to them, made easier by the grayed out icons that indicate your receiver is entirely oblivious to the fact you are attempting to throw them the ball. However, defensive players that aren't looking can't block the pass either, a problem that reoccurred throughout NCAA 12. The biggest lacking feature for this year's NCAA football was the Infinity engine offered by Madden 13. Now, Madden 13 has not come out yet, and thus there has been no clear reference for its engine, giving us no clue whether it is another useless "innovation" provided by Madden or if it's actually a fantastic addition for the game, but it certainly is disappointing that it was not included in this year's NCAA. This is especially disappointing given that, at least in recent years, NCAA had surpassed Madden in being the elite football title produced by EA in terms of gameplay and reception. The previous iteration of NCAA Football didn't do too much to separate itself from the line of other NCAA's, at least not in a manner similar to NCAA 11, and NCAA 13 doesn't do too much either. For fans of college football and folks who have picked up each and every other game before it, it's a good buy, but for those simply looking for a recommendation to upgrade from NCAA 12, there's not much reason to spend the extra money for a the Heisman Challenge, new animations, and a roster update. As an individual who spent hundreds of hours on NCAA 12, I picked it up and loved it. EDIT: I have recently had a lot of trouble loading my dynasty, as it constantly freezes during the game loading screen. I haven't been able to touch my dynasty mode after this, and it's extremely frustrating. Hopefully it will be patched soon, but as of now, with dynasty mode unable to be played correctly, I switch my position to don't buy. Wait until it's patched to buy or just save the money and continue to play '12.

Great 'Babysitter' for my Husband
My hubby is addicted to college football, so the offseason sends him into a deep depression. This game is a great way for him to get realistic NCAA action until the real thing starts up again. Also, it's a great way to keep him busy so I can read or watch a chick flick LOL. Kids love it too, good option for family game nights! BTW, I saw where other folks said their game freezes up in dynasty mode, but we haven't had that problem yet and it gets played quite a bit. We're a little uptight about the content in our young kids' games, but haven't had a problem with anything in NCAA in all the years we've been purchasing it.

Game would not start
Can't give it anything higher than one star for one simple reason, the game would not start. The small thing that was not displayed ANYWHERE when going to buy this product is that it is not useable outside of Nort & South America and yes you could argue that I should know that before purchasing but why would you sell this on a .co.uk website if it can't be use din that region?
