In this New York Times bestselling memoir, the incredibly talented breakout star of Dance Moms and judge on So You Think You Can Dance brings her uplifting coming-of-age story about following her dreams and working hard to achieve success in both the dance world and in life. Maddie Ziegler knew one day she’d be a star—she just didn’t know how soon that day would come. At just eight years old, she was cast on Lifetime’s hit reality show Dance Moms and quickly won the hearts of fans everywhere with her natural talent and determination. Soon, she was capturing attention from all over—including pop superstar Sia, who cast her as her dance double in the incredibly popular music video for her hit song “Chandelier.” The rest, as they say, was history. In this inspirational memoir, Maddie explains the hard work she put into her rise to stardom and how she keeps her balance along the way—starring in music videos, going on tour, and becoming an actress in The Book of Henry with Naomi Watts and Jacob Tremblay. She also answers her fans’ burning questions with wise advice she’s learned on her journey. With honesty, charm, and humor, Maddie offers her unique perspective on making her way in the entertainment world as a young teenager, reflecting on the lessons she’s learned—and preparing for the exciting road ahead. Fast read that is perfect for Tween girls!
I was skeptical to read this initially. Watching Dance Moms and Maddie's work on some TV shows, I thought she was adorable and very talented, but I wondered how much of her life was what she wanted versus what her parents were pointing her towards. This read was, to some degree, like reading a school assigned journal. Part record of this point in her life, part guidance and tips for other tweens, part hawking of her clothing line, and part musings about clothes, make-up, fashion, celebrities, and friends, this was a fun quick read. You aren't going to learn massive secrets or Maddie's deepest inner thoughts. You aren't going to get dirty laundry about the ALDC and her family. This is not a book about gossip. It is a cute look at a teenager learning make up tips, accessorizing, and experiencing the world. I'd love to see Maddie write a book in 10 years and see how much has changed and how much has stayed the same. At the same time, I hope lots of girls read this. Courage, in all its forms, is a necessary life skill. It takes hard work and dedication to compete in any arena. Malala is brave. Zendaya is brave. Maddie is brave. and the world needs more brave, hard working, creative, and smart young women to lead!

I really did enjoy this, but...
This book is a very well written book, that’s why I hardly believe that this was written by Maddie herself. I mean, she kept on talking about how humble she is and how amazing and sweet and kind she is. She also talks about how encouraging she is. This doesn’t sound like HER. I’ve been watching Dance Mom’s for years and it doesn’t sound like she wrote it. And the way she talked about her sister!!!!! If she’s so humble, she wouldn’t talk about her sister like that! And the Kenzie section, doesn’t sound like Kenzie wrote it at all!!! -Lila (11 years old)

Love it! Inspiring read.
A great book and one that I can really relate to! *I really liked the structure of the book. It was very fascinating! *The book was inspiring, and interesting. It was good to know the gossip, too… ¬One little thing to improve on, if you don't mind. The book was a bit easy to put down- but that could just be me! :) ~I recommend this book for ages 10-15, because I feel like the topics are just right for that age group. P$: Buy the book! You won't regret it! Sincerely, The Bookworm ;D
