How does one know when it is full?

You really don’t. Just shake it into your tank and see if bugs come out. Not sure it gets full.

Aren’t you getting a little personal there?

Can I keep it in my tank? Or needs a refugium kind of thing?

Either, or or both. A lot of people reproduce copepods in their refugium and when then pod population get low in the tank hotel they rotate them out. Thank you, Scott @ Aquarium Specialty
