Horrible! Noisy noisy noisy! Whole house couldn't sleep and humidity was not coming out well. Don't recommend this.

This is the third V4450 Humidifier we have owned. They all work perfectly and have been long lived. We run them at least eight hours every night and sometimes during the day using distilled water. The first two were whisper quiet. This last one sounds like a diesel engine under load. very noisy. First two get a five star, this one a two because of noise.

Used it 24/7. Maybe, very soon will have to buy another one.

This humidifier has gotten a lot of bad reviews and I am not sure why. It is a bit loud, but I love the white noise. It is definitely not whisper quiet, but is worth getting used to. I LOVE that it is filter free. Dropping $5 per month on a filter is ridiculous. I use my humidifier year round and it has worked for me for 3 years now. I have used the warm mist and filter kinds in the past and they are a joke. The warm mist always broke after a couple months and the element would always get really gross. The filter kind would always get gross after a couple weeks and you would have to spend a ton on those dumb filters. This humidifier is a simple motor that rotates the spindle. It should never break! You do have to clean it fairly often. About once a month I soak it in a large bucket of water with a 1/4 cup of bleach. And then about once a week I add a little bit of vinegar to it.

Every humidifier is a balance of various trade-offs. This one chooses to emphasize humidity output. I can run this humidifier for an hour before bedtime on the medium setting until my separate hygrometer indicates between 60 and 65 percent, and then I can turn off the humidifier for the rest of the night. When I awake in the morning, my hygrometer reads between 50 and 55 percent. This works for me.

used for 1 winter season, plugged it in this winter and it didn't work.
