Absolute Garbage
Upon receipt, I was initially worried as it felt very cheap, being all made out of plastic. I installed it into two barrels to see how it worked, and wasn't very impressed by the accuracy. One barrel a little below half and the other had about 25% left, and it showed both as empty (one was gasoline and one diesel). I left it in the gasoline barrel for a few weeks and went to use that barrel today and the gauge showed "full". I unscrewed the unit from the barrel and found that the float had come apart - there was only the top of it left attached to the string. Without the weight of the float, it had retracted fully, showing the barrel was full. Now there are pieces of a float I'm going to have to get out of my fuel barrel... I was planning to buy more if this worked out, but I definitely won't be buying them now...

Correct measurement
Best product ever, it worked well for our chemical A and B drum. And it’s very acutely measuring the level.

Great for Rain Barrel Level
While I cannot say how this would work in any oil or solvent tank, it works great in water in my Rain Barrel. I have the barrel set up at a vacation property with WiFi controlled transfer pump and camera. I can turn on the pump to water plants (via drip irrigation) and the gauge allows me to monitor the water level in the barrel - so I don’t run the pump dry. I did add a 3/4” pvc riser to raise the gauge up a little, as my 2” cap was a bit recessed. See photo. Fortunately, the cover comes off the gauge so you can make adjustments to the gauge. For example, adding the small riser required a slight adjustment. With the gauge installed and the barrel completely full, I just held the needle at 55 gallons and set the gauge back onto the gears and snapped the cover back on. Note: the float would not fit through the pvc riser. Easily solved by untying the string from float, passing it through the riser, and tying it back on to the float (checking that it was secure). My sealed barrel (Home Depot) has a downspout intake, so that serves as venting. Otherwise, the barrel is sealed. Why only four stars? During a major downpour, my barrel filled from 20 to 55 gallons in about an hour. When I checked it the next morning the cover and gauge layer had popped off. Not sure how or why. No damage, easily reinstalled. Fortunately, I was at vacation home at the time. I may consider an adhesive or rubber band to secure cover, as I cannot afford such failure when I’m not in residence.

works as it should
this is a good visual reference for the fluid level

Very cheap and break
I bought two of these and both broke the first day. My barrel is mounted on a tractor so the liquid is moving. This breaks the float. Also on the last one the clear cover fell off and the guts spilled out. Cheap China junk! I won't be waisting more money on another one.

Very Fragile
It works well to show the level of fluid in the drum but it breaks very easily. I used it on drums of motor oil to be able to tell when to order a new drum without going over and tipping the drum to feel how much was left. The first one I bought broke when transferring it to the second drum. I thought it might have been my fault because I tightened it too much and broke the plastic. So I ordered a new one because it worked so well. I was much more careful with the second gauge, but the plastic housing broke after four drum changes.

Excellent quality
simple to install and use, no complaints

Very accurate.
Worked great, but didn’t stand up to the application we needed it for, tank in truck. Front cover fell off pretty quick. If you wrap packing tape around it would last longer. Gauge accurate.
