I just had bilateral carpal tunnel surgery and can’t lift more than 1 1/2 pounds for the next 4 to 6 weeks. I love to read actual books (not ebooks) but they aren’t always light. In doing a Google search I discovered The Book Seat. I was skeptical it would hold a heavy paperback book and also that it would sit upright on any surface without tipping over, but it does! It’s also very lightweight. The plastic page holder keeps the pages flat enough to read both sides, and easily flips down with one hand in order to turn the page. I’m super impressed. Now all my friends will be getting these as gifts, so I hope they’re not reading this, lol.

I developed some serious problems with my neck and quickly realized I needed to raise my book in order to read. Although I was initially hesitant about purchasing this, I could not be any more pleased. First, I like the size of it. It is not bulky and has a loop built in, so I can store it on the doorknob behind the bedroom door. Secondly, the color (olive) is very pleasing. But MOST of all, it holds my books at an excellent angle which I can adjust by shifting the inner pellets around. Paperbacks stay open and the acrylic band at the bottom will keep my place. Turning the page is easy once you get the hang of it. It works with all book sizes. When reading in bed, I do place a small pillow under it sometimes, just to raise the height, but this would not be necessary for everyone. The Book Seat is very portable and I use it in all rooms of the house. It would be great to use on trips. I have used it with my iPad but do prefer the Amazon portable stand for that. Using the iPad in the vertical position is preferable when using the bookseat but not impossible horizontally. It would be ideal for use with a Kindle. Almost hands-free reading. No aching arms. No strain on the neck. I'm purchasing another one for my elderly mother.

I absolutely love my book seat and it was exactly what I was looking for! My only complaint is that there's not nearly enough stuffing inside. Not a deal breaker, I bought a small $10 bag of stuffing here on Amazon and filled it up to the top. Now it's much more durable and doesn't slouch/fall over constantly.

This feels like a random purchase but has changed how I read, especially in bed! It helps you find a comfortable spot to position your book, especially while reading in bed. Plus, no more hands and thumbs getting tired from holding books open. It’s soft enough that you can adjust the position and angle of how it’s sitting easily and will freely sit on its own or cozy up nicely in your lap. My favorite purchase I’ve made in a while!

This is the most thoroughly satisfying purchase I have made in recent memory. I've got some issues that were making reading uncomfortable. 1) Arthritis - holding books open was painful. Now I don't have to! And, unlike other book holders with tension page holders that are extremely rigid and make page turning very difficult - this requires ZERO EFFORT. And it has admirably held up every book I've thrown at it. 2) Migraines - just using my eyes is sometimes painful. The Book Seat helps in two ways - a) I can put the book at the perfect height and angle so that my eyes, neck, and shoulders can relax. I was worried that the weight of the book would tilt the holder at odd angles - and sometimes it does! BUT - I can just squish the base and sides around a bit and can always get the angle back to right where I want it. Magical! b) The color choices are great for sensitive eyes. I looked at all of the colors and found the one that was most rexlaxing to my eyes personally (the green), and when I am reading books, I don't notice the holder at all. The way I use my Book Seat most often is on a table over my stationary bike. I can't tell you how much more exercise I am getting! And because the Book Seat isn't rigid, it's doesn't wiggle! Also, it hold both my Nook and my Kindle just great! I'm just in love with this thing. Can't say one bad thing about it.

I wanted to love it. This book rest is great for resting my kindle and has helped some wrist and forearm pain. However. It's made to sit in front of you on a table. It's not made to lay down and read in bed. I have to prop it with pillows and take the very long elastic end up and over the kindle and the top of the pillow to keep the kindle from flipping out and onto my chest ...or face. The little plastic strip is not enough to hold a book unless the whole setup is leaning backwards. Also you have to turn the kindle to landscape display or you can't access the ON button. I like the size and it's lightweight. But it's not perfect for reading in bed.

This book holder seems to be exactly what I need. It holds both books and my ipad. It seems to hold its shape well and is incredibly light so not too heavy on top of you when laying down to read. I am very impressed!

You won't regret buying this

This is so awesome! I wish I had this a long time ago. It makes it so that you can rest your hands between changing pages and your arms and wrists don’t get sore. I also attach a book light to it so that the book light doesn’t damage the book.

I have been using this for a week and absolutely love it. Definitely worth the price it works perfectly for any books I have found. Highly recommend.
