The best camera I've ever owned.
This is by far one of the best cameras I have ever bought (and I have bought a lot of cameras all of which cost a bit more than this one. The battery life is really good though it does take a proprietary battery unfortunately. The image quality is great and it still has most of the settings customizable despite being a point and shoot. Where this camera really shines though is the video recording oddly enough. The color and contrast is fantastic and still works well in low light situations. The frame rate is smooth and the clarity is great. even the audio is good but the biggest features with the video is the macro and stabilization. The recordings are silky smooth even with a shaky hand and the details that it can record with macro is out of this world. The touch screen isn't that great but I don't really have any use for it as the menus are just as easy to navigate with the buttons. the feel of it in the hand is very comfortable and feels very solid though I still wouldn't dare to drop it. It even supports up to a 32 gig SD card (maybe more but the largest I have is a 32) What it all comes down to is if it were to ever break or get lost/stolen I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Great small camera...
I bought this camera for my wife to take out of country on a trip. It was small and compact but took great quality pictures. Its not a SLR model obviously, but takes pretty fast photos of good quality. She returned with some great shots and we're no photographers. The other option I like on this is the screen on the back is touchscreen. Makes navigating menus easier and you can even take pictures by tapping the screen (much like a smartphone which is what we were used to). The battery life is outstanding, lasted her whole two week trip with moderate use. It uses a rechargeable battery (not standard double AA ones though) so you have to take its charger with you but its small too and charges the battery pretty quickly. This was a great choice for a point and shoot camera for vacations and travel.

I'm excited to learn photography from this great little camera
I love my Canon PowerShot A3400 IS 16.0 MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Image a lot. I haven't had a long time to really see all that it can do yet, but I will have fun practicing using it. I have never really owned a decent camera and for the money I spent for it, it takes great pictures and videos. I used it at a concert, and ended up with a few videos and great pictures and I hadn't even read the manual yet. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who is new to photography as a great first camera. It has a lot of features that you can use that are automatic helping out a beginner.

Blurry pictures, total trash
Blurry pictures, total trash! Do not ever buy it, i was fan of Canon, but no more. I am switching to 200 dollar models of Sony.

Good little camera for the price.... But
The button to take a picture is a bit sensitive! Not really an issue except when you have everyone posing, and press the button halfway down to focus, it takes the picture blurry! I have quite a few shots of random things just because I accidentally hit the button - by no means are those deal breakers though! This is a great little camera - perfect for vacations where you want something that takes a 'good' photo- these cameras will never compare to the bigger models, but if you want a quality product for a great price, your looking at it. It also comes with a battery and the charger so you really are getting a great deal!

You get what you pay for I guess
Bought this prior to a disney world trip. I was replacing a 9 year old Sony DSC-V1 that has gotten pretty ragged over the years. Pros: - battery life has been very good in my experience - good zoom - one touch video recording - pictures are good cons: - when recording video if the focal length changes you hear a 1-2 second buzzing sound in the video while the focus adjusts. basically makes the video unwatchable for those 1-2 seconds. - shutter delay is longer than most cameras. easy to miss pictures if you are taking pictures that aren't posed. - the auto flash can be inconsistent which can lead to blurry pictures at night. - touchscreen is not really that useful. overall I wasn't sure what to expect since I had never owned a point and shoot before. The DSC-V1 I was used to was a little more on the higher end side than this camera and so it has more features. I was looking forward to a camera that I could whip out, take some quick snaps and put back in my pocket. However, I found the picture taking to be less easy than I was hoping for. Pressing the button to take pictures would sometimes quickly take a picture and sometimes not. Sometimes the autoflash would fire and sometimes not. At Disney World we were often giving the camera to Disney photogs to take our picture and many of those shots ended up being blurry and unuseable. I was hoping this point and shoot would be more automatic than it is. Maybe my impression of it will improve as I use it more and figure out the tricks. For now I probably wouldn't buy this one again.

Great Camera at a great price!
I had purchased a Canon camera years ago, and I liked it very much. In between I purchased another brand, (that I will not name here, but the name rhymes with icon) - anyway, I found my Canon camera amazing to work with. I easily shot several thousand photos with that original Canon Elph. After a while I had a minor issue with my Canon, and I found their customer service to be among the best in business. They were very professional, and a pleasure to deal with. I also had a major problem with the other brand, and found their customer service to be totally incapable of even responding to my requests for information. As a result of this, and because my experiences with the actualy Canon camera was everything it was touted to be, I decided to stick with Canon products. My original instincts with my Canon were correct, and for that reason, as well as because of the amazing features that came with both cameras, I have decided to stick with Canon products from here on out. My first Canon was less than 4 megapixels, and I loved it. My current Canon, the model listed here, is 16 megapixels and has touch-screen capabilities. I am having a blast exploring all that it can do, and it is alot! I am very pleased with my purchase.

Excellent Camera
100% Great Camera , Power Shot A 3400 is excellent , Very quality pictures and camera have a very good design , easy for use and make a high quality pictures day/night and in my case I m in desert so it's have a lot of dust in air, and Flash in day time don't catch dust on picture during the taking ,the picture is clean, Night time is visible and u can see it , but without flash still u can take good picture during low visibility. Zoom is great even during shaking the camera . I recommend this camera to any professional level.
