The Clandestine Cake Club Cookbook

A wonderful cookbook filled with many different types of cakes /breads that we here in America ( across the pond) do not usually make and some of the measurements and flavors are hard to find, or you need to look up the words, but that is half the fun. I have made a few things out of the book and all have been great. Also there are a few Clandestine Cake Clubs here in the States. If you like to bake cakes ,sweet type breads, this is a great book to have.

This book is a collection of recipes from Clandestine Cake Clubs. Since the book was written in England, the measurements are in grams, and some of the ingredients go by different names. Since I have a digital scale, it is easy to just set it to grams and it then it doesn't matter that I have no idea how much sugar 180g is. Some more popular baking books come out with American editions, but the math is often wrong on the conversions, and this sounded to good to wait. There are a lot of recipes that sound like they will be delicious. Dark n' Stormy Cake-crystallized ginger, rum, lime, Finnish Lemon Mother's Day Cake- lemon, mascarpone filling, Amaretto Cream Cake. So far I have just been enjoying looking through at all the recipes and deciding what I would like to start with.

A good book but I’d loved to see a colour photo to every cake.

I love this book and really cant understand the rather negative reviews, lots of gorgeous looking recipes that I will be trying, the book is very well laid out and the photographs are outstanding, what I also like is the fact that it is just a cake book, no biscuits,brownies, or pastry or pies, great ! I particularly like that there are recipes for bundt tins ( my latest craze ), If you love baking I urge you to buy this book, much better than the Martha Stewart Cake book I recently returned.

Love this book. Borrowed it from the library, but had to have it to keep. Beautiful photographs, easy to follow recipes and consistent reliable results. Whether it's for day to day or a special occasion, there's always a recipe that's do-able. Would make a fabulous gift for anyone who bakes, or doesn't...yet.

The book was in exceptional condition, possibly because the recipes were the kind to read about rather than bake. Although of course there are a few which will be baked more than once.
