ESV Illuminated Scripture Journal: Psalms: Psalms (Paperback)

Love this, all the psalms in one place, nicely illustrated easy to read font and type.

Just beautiful.

This series of biblical journal books is a fabulous idea, I only wish they were available with Anglicised text as opposed to the standard American English we see in abundance - but as it is designed for making notes, I will be amending the language whereever necessary. The battered edges of the Book of Psalms I purchased, reflected how it was (seemingly) carelessly 'flung' into its ill fitting envelope and then squashed through my letterbox - much as other reviewers have already mentioned. That said, It was not a deal breaker for me - I just took a deep breath and proceeded to carefully flatten the edges, all the time reminding myself this is to be a 'working' book. The print, easily legible, on good quality paper in a single column is a joy to read, sounds funny, but it feels like a book! The odd bits of gold rendered, illuminated text dotted throughout the book add interest. I have found using a 'bookmarker' really helpful! The absence of notes, references, correlating verses etc. is refreshing and one can focus simply on the thoughts of our LORD. I have found it difficult to put pen to book because it looks so nice, but as the idea is not to get too attached to material stuff... 🙃 The cost is considerable if you get all of the books, but getting them bit by bit makes it feel quite affordable.

These scripture journals are so gorgeous! 80gsm paper, lovely and creamy to the touch, and beautiful foiling on the cover. The layout is lovely. The dots on the blank pages are extremely faint, but they are visible as guidelines if you look carefully. I use mine with Sakura Pigma Microns, and I have had no issues with bleeding or ghosting (I think something more heavy-handed would probably bleed a bit though)

This is a wonderful book of Psalms using one of my favourite translations, ESV. The illustrations are lovely but a little few and far between, however, we mainly use this book to jot notes, drawings, photos, with our baby son on the spare pages and it works really well as the paper is thick enough not to bleed through. We're really enjoying this book.

At first glance you can see this book is a bit bashed around the edges but I paid nearly half price on the amazon warehouse option so I am very pleased with the lack of substantial damage or use. The inside is perfect condition and I will enjoy creating in this journal along side study

Beautiful journal. Shame about the lousy packaging! My book arrived damaged along the edges because it was packaged in a cardboard envelope that allowed it to rattle around and get battered. Disappointed because of the beautiful art work and effort gone into the cover and graphics inside. Still, it will get that "used" look whilst writing in it. Would prefer if this journal was split into smaller journals because I'm finding the thickness of this journal's is making it difficult to write my notes in. That would have given it 5 stars. That said, I ordered the NT set as well because they are so beautiful. No problems with the packaging on this boxed set thankfully. It came well packaged. Seems it's the individual books that aren't packaged correctly going by other people's experiences as well as my own.

A nice way to Journal the Psalms . . . The cover arrived a bit battered on the edges in places . . . Looks like a slightly used one as opposed to a new one . . .

This book is AMAZING!!! The translation is very good. My favorite translation for psalm is the passion translation 2nd edition. If you haven’t read that I highly recommend but this one is probably my second favorite as far as the wording. The journaling capability is mind blowing. I love that there are bite size amounts to read on each page and opportunity to draw or write whatever the Holy Spirit places on your heart or brings to your mind. My daughter who is 9 is also using one and we read the one page of scripture a day and draw a picture on the other page. You can also purchase stencils to trace if you feel as though that would be easier to draw. The pages are a perfect thickness to handle all the drawing and coloring. I have done drawings on bible pages and many times have torn through the page because the pages are more fragile. This makes the perfect gift idea or surprise for almost any occasion. My ONE complaint is that I am worried that the cover will not last through me journaling the entire book. I keep the book in a protective padded sleeve and the edges are showing some wear already and the gold on the front is showing some scratches. I have included a picture to show what I’m talking about. I would still buy this book over and over a million times but it is also going to be a keepsake I want to last for a very long time.

Love it! Beautiful cover! I have a lot of place to write in it and each cover is inspired by a bible verse and explained at the back. Wish Amazon took care of it during delivery though…it should be wrapped better so it doesn’t come damaged in the corner. Wish the option of other languages was available. But overall it’s worth the money! I will continue to buy the other books and get the whole collection!
