Works as Advertised but Correct Installation is a Must!
The Magic Stop has been down for over 2 months and has indeed kept the 8x10 Area rug on Berber Carpet from slipping. Prior to the Magic Stop install, I had to get the bumps/humps out of the area rug at least once a week. Post install, it has not moved an inch. One thing to make sure of is a correct install. And believe it or not this product did NOT come with any install instructions. If I had not found them in your customer reviews, I would certainly have installed it wrong. I'm including it here again because it is an important aspect of enjoying this product. ---- { I found this at another website and have learned to always check Amazon before buying. The other website had instructions not found here. After reading reviews, I wonder if the instructions were followed, especially the part about removing the clear backing on the area rug side. I am pasting the instructions below."This pad is used for rugs on top of carpet. Placed between the rug and the carpet, it prevents wrinkling and crawling. A thin, slightly tacky pad which 'adheres' the rug to the carpet without damage to either. The pad can be moved many times, even washed to rejuvenate the adhesive. Rounds and odd sizes can easily be trimmed to fit. For installing under large area rugs, follow these instructions: 1. Position the rug in the room exactly where you want it. 2. Mark the carpet beneath each corner of the rug with a piece of masking tape then roll the rug out of the way. 3. With the sticky side facing the carpet and the clear, protective backing facing up, line up two edge of the rug pad about 1/2 inch inside the marked area on the floor. If the pad is larger than the marked area, allow only two sides to extend beyond the markers. The excess will be trimmed later. 4. Carefully lay the rug pad down on the carpet and run your hands over the pad to smooth it in place. Push any excess material to one side of the area, making sure the pad remains within the markers on the floor. 5. Slowly peel the clear backing off the pad to reveal the adhesive facing up. 6. Line up 2 edges of the rug inside your marked area and unroll into position. Smooth the rug into place. 7. Trim or fold under any excess rug pad. Made in U.S.A.."} I hope this helps.

So far I am extremely pleased
Just applied Grip It Magic a few hours ago and have walked across the rug several times and it hasn't budged. My 2'2x6'runner rug going into my family room for my laundry room would slide over with each step, and so far I'm happy to say after walking across it it is not moved. I only gave it four stars just because it's only been a day otherwise I would have given it five stars but actually right now even if it doesn't work perfectly it works way better than anything else I have tried. Read all the reviews so I got tips on how to install as it came with no directions and I did it by myself took about 20 minutes very easy .I would recommend this for sure.

So far so good!
So far so good. I haven’t had it down for long but it really seems to be hold the area rug in place! I’ve tried other methods and they have not been successful. I’m excited that this product might do the trick!

Worked for me
I have a 5x7 area rug over carpeting. That rug slides more than a fat kid going down a slide. I adjusted it almost daily. This worked for me. My area rug hasn't budged since I put this under it and I couldn't be happier. It doesn't do a good job of keeping the corners down though. My dog kicks up one corner daily. But, if that's my only problem then I'm good.Oddly this pad doesn't come with instructions. Sure, it seems obvious but moving it around after you realize that you've messed up isn't all that easy. Here's what I did:Put your rug down where you want it.Tape the corners. I used painter's tape.Roll up your carpet.Lay this pad down inside of the tape. The plastic covered side should be up.Don't worry if the pad is too big.Smooth it out.Remove the plastic covering the pad.Position one side of your rug inside of the tape.Roll the rug out; it should go where you wanted it because you lined it up.Walk over the rug to secure it.If necessary trim any excess pad. I used common scissors.I've seen some reviews that said it didn't work. I suspect it has to do with either the texture of the rug backing or the carpeting. My area rug has a rough underside. The carpeting is low pile. Hope that helps.

Didn't work for me. Rug runner still shifted.
I cut this Grip-It product 1 inch smaller than my rug runner on all sides and then applied it to the runner. My first impression was "This isn't very sticky". We had a hard time keeping it in place until we could lay down the runner and walk on it to get the best adhesion. After several days of moderate foot traffic the rug runner shifted about 1" off the Grip-It as shown in the photo. This means a total of 2" of movement including the original 1" margin I left when installing it. Basically, this stuff didn't work at all for us. It's possible that it just didn't work on our new runner due to some coating or residue from manufacturing but I consider our runner backing to be pretty conventional.I believe the Grip-It product simply had poor adhesion which surprised me considering the large amount of surface area involved.

The wrinkles in my rug were so annoying! This thing works!!!Step 1. Roll up your wrinkled rugStep 2. Lay the rug mat down in the position you would like your rug in, leaving the plastic film on the topsideStep 3. Stomp stomp stomp on the rug matStep 4 peel back some of the film on the top side and unroll you previously wrinkled rug on top of the mat peeling the film as you go.Step 5. Even and flatten that bad boy outStep 6. Stomp stomp stomp on your rug.Step.7 vacuum and enjoy never dealing with a wrinkled up rug again.

My Rug Still Moves
I used this on my 4x6 rug in my bedroom...very low pile carpet underneath. My rug still buckles in the middle. Been using for several days and still won't stay down. Disappointing.

Won't discolor or stick to my carpet
It's sticky on both sides. It was a difficult to put down since it was the same size as my rug, 9 x 12. And I had only myself to get the job done. But its working fine. I'm glad it's white because my w to w carpet is very light cream. The sticky just holds it in place. It's not adhered to the carpet or the rug.

Doesn’t work with carpet
I have Berber carpet and when I placed this with an area rug on there it didn’t work longer than a few days… wouldn’t recommend it …

Sticks to the floor solidly
Does the job, my rug dues MOT move, even with 2 kids running around. It sticks to the floor more then the rug, so you lay it out first and have to pull it up separately if you’re cleaning the floor. Tends to collect dirt on the edges that’s hard to clean, but it’s under the rug.

Nope! Does not work
I purchased a similar product that was the Gorilla Grip brand, works perfectly. I needed more of this type of product because I have an area rug on top of carpet and there is a hump in one spot that will not lay flat. Exactly the same issue I used the gorilla grip brand for on another rug. So decided to try this kind. It does not work!! Honestly useless. My rug is doing the exact same thing it was doing before when I didn’t have this pad down. Waste of time and money.
