I believe the bolt that is rounded off is 18mm would this set work for an 18mm socket?

Sould be fine. Either the 17mm or 7/16 should work. It depends how rounded the nut or bolt is to which size is the tightest fit to tap on it. The bolt I removed was very rounded and a size down was needed. I used a lot of force to get the bolt out and the socket was not even marked afterwards. Hugely impressed

Does this work with Makita impact drills?

They will fit a 3/8" square drive impact gun or you can use 3/8" breaker bar

Would the bolt extractor set work on a square bolt?

Yep, the extractor sets have hexagonal flats, it will work on square drive nuts.
