Excellent. Works flawlessly with playing blue ray and dvd on my Mac Pro 2009 and my new Mac Pro 2019 on their built in DVD player and windows 10 PC with vlc media player. Thin but reasonably durable. High speed. Have not used the burner.

probably should have known better but took a chance and to no ones surprise, item did not work as described. Box it arrived in says DVD, no where does it mention Blu Ray.

Despite what others say, this device works fine with Windows 10. In fact, I didn't have to install any drivers, as it works Plug-N-Play as the manufacturer describes. It does NOT (at least my purchase did NOT) come with any form of USB C connector/connectivity. It simply came with the USB 3.0 to USB/Power combo wire similar to the one I included in my review. My drive works fine on my Windows 10 Surface Book 2 (So, some reviews stating it won't work with Surface devices may not be completely accurate, but could refer to lower Surface models that focus more on power efficiency and may provide lower current (power). Also it is true that the packaging does not state Blueray among the posted trademarks on the box. But, that may be an oversight or a method to allow these devices through customs without specific proclamations. It IS a BlueRay device. As for the software likely necessary to make this device function properly, I suggest something akin to DVDFab for backing up personal CD/DVD/BlueRay discs (and more). For playback, I suggest PowerDVD version 11 (the current version as of this writing). Summary: If you are looking for BlueRay hardware device that is recognized and functional on WIndows 10, this device lives up to what it claims to be, in full. People stating that they couldn't get it working in Windows 10 either had a faulty device, or more likely faulty understanding and expectations. The realities of further support software for both playback and duplication are outside the scope of what should be expected, as there are format/standard licenses inherent. Expect with this device, and likely all others, the need for a separate purchase of software for playback, and then for duplication. Of course, there are free/advertisement financed softwares available. But, in that area as in life, you get what you pay for. My only minor disappointment was the lack of a USB C direct connection, which I thought I had seen in the product description. But, it works, works well, and lives up to my expectation for speed, OS compatibility, and size/appearance.

Did not play Blu-Rays as advertised. Only plays DvDs.

You rarely install a DVD drive in your laptop. They should be as compact as possible. There is no problem burning a DVD disc. Therefore, this can save new purchases. The DVD drive can read all my DVDs and CDs, even old ones that are in poor condition.
