This is the latest edition of the book that application developers worldwide have used to master MySQL now updated for MySQL 8 and beyond. As you would expect, this book shows how to code all the essential SQL statements for working with a MySQL database. Youll use these statements every day to have MySQL do more of your work for you. But beyond that, it shows how to work with classic MySQL features that take you to new level, such as summary queries, subqueries, functions, views, transactions, stored procedures, triggers, and security. It shows how to take advantage of newer MySQL features such as window functions, Common Table Expressions (CTE), and roles for database security. It shows how to design a database, including how to use MySQL Workbench to create and implement the design. It even presents a starting set of skills for a database administrator (DBA) if youre interested in that career path or if you need to be your own DBA. In short, its a must-have guide for anyone who works with MySQL, beginning and experienced developers alike. Review: Awesome Book - I'm not at all familiar with SQL and this book has help me understand it step by step specially with the example DB Review: Buy it! - This book is hands down the best way to learn SQL! I purchased this book for a class a few years ago, but I only recently began to use it for real world projects. I had to design an entire database from scratch for the capstone class in a Software Development degree program and this book is the only reason Iโve been able to create something useful. Sure, you could use AI for most of it, but AI lacks business acumen and often makes mistakes in the way that it structures reports and triggers/stored procedures. Having a strong SQL foundation is still important.

Solid book, good method to learn MySQL
I really like this book, 9 chapters down , 10 to go. The exercises at the end of each chapter are key to learning MySQL. Don't feel that you have to memorize every single function, some of them you never use in real life. My only criticism of this book is more of a personal preference to have books in digital form that you can read on your computer. Printed is not the best media for this book, IMHO.

Great resource and must have for aspiring data analyst.
I have been using this for a little over a month and while my professor said it is not required, I'm glad I purchased it. The additional practice has allowed me to feel more confident while trying to digest complex topics. I highly recommend you use this and complete the end of unit example problems.

Very easy to get and digest the needed information
This book is organized into page pairs, with the left page giving you a longer description / discussion of the page topic, and the right page giving you any images and a simple bullet-point reiteration of the topic that's on the left. I find this arrangement very helpful. The information is presented in a clear and concise manner and the index is comprehensive.

Easy to read - Very accurate.
Easy to read, even for someone with no prior SQL experience. The terms and procedures seem to follow a logical order. I like training that doesn't jump around from subject to subject. If the topic goes astray it is explained in detail. Do yourself a favor and follow the appendix instructions to install all necessary (free) software. The book is accurate and I had no problem duplicating these very complex queries as illustrated in the book. I've read many technical training books and this is among the easiest to follow. The results are impressive.

Straight to the point type of book.
If you know a decent amount of data analytics, then this book will serve you well in learning MySQL. However, Murach MySQL (3rd edition) does not define any of the terms itโs presenting. If you are expecting this book to teach you about data terminology, then this is not the right book.
