Used to convert 1978 Ford Van 351 engine from auto choke to manual. Had to make a few modifications but all the parts included made it rather easy. The most difficult was to locate a place for the manual choke knob as this van is not very suited for adding instruments with is plastic dash and such. The manual is so much better since you know what it is doing whereas the auto is just sort of magic--like you hope its doing something.

This basic kit has been offered by some company or another for at 40 years that I know of. It's functional, but I had a couple of issues with it. The bracket that bolts to the top of the engine has always been flimsy, and in this case I was lucky, the carburetor (Holley) I attached it to, had a clamp for a manual cable that worked perfectly. The other issue I had was with the threaded brass piece that's meant to mount the cable to the arm wasn't threaded properly, and I ended up breaking it because the screw wouldn't tighten. Instead I improvised and used a small bolt in place of it, and wrapped the cable around it like a spring. The only other caution I would add, is that the cable doesn't like any kind of sharp bends at all. I moved it around several times before I found a position where it doesn't bind, but I finally found it. Needless to say, run the cable as straight as possible. Otherwise, it does work, but I wouldn't say it was for the novice installer.

The hardware was very handy I was able unable to use it for its intended purpose but I knew that when I ordered it. I was able to make use of a lot of the hardware for another project and it worked out well!

This is a great tool kit, long cord and will fit many applications. This one is a winner. Very easy instructions and many small extra parts to fit any carb set up. My golf cart loves it and so do I Much cheaper than the Yamaha original part and works just as good. Thankyou

Everything you need to make to change. Cable could be a bti longer but worked ok.
