Once I finally got a working unit, it was wonderful!
So, I originally ordered 2 of these. When they arrived, one worked great, but the other one was leaking all of its coolant fluid out of it. The box was all torn up and there was a spot where the outer plastic cover of the unit was crushed or punctured. The replacement came and was also leaking all of its coolant out... actually it was in worse condition. Finally, the replacement for the replacement came and it was in perfect condition; no leaks, no scratches, no issues. Finally! The pictures are of the first one that arrived leaking coolant. So now that I have the two, the timing is pretty perfect. It's early spring, so some days have been in the mid 80's and some days have been in the 30's. That's just how Texas weather is. I can say that both the cooling and heating is awesome on these things. What took me back was how quiet these things were. Some other reviews said they are loud. Compared to what, I don't know, but mine are super quiet. I wasn't expecting this since this is, essentially, an electric furnace and a/c in a plastic container. My only guess about the noise is that they're comparing the noise it makes to... silence, I guess, or (a common issue with any air conditioner) is that they plugged it up and powered it on soon after getting it. When it comes to anything with a compressor pump that moves coolant (or any liquid, for that matter), you have to let it sit upright for hours before ever powering it on. The compressor is not made to move air, so if the liquids haven't settled properly before operating, you're going to quickly damage your compressor. It might still "work", but it might loud or it may never heat or cool to its full capacity. Same goes for refrigerators. The heat capacity of this was impressive. It takes a moment to warm up, so when it does come on, the compressor might kick on first, then the fan will kick in on low. After a while of running it'll be much warmer than when it starts. So far, the coolest night for me was 34 degrees and I actually had to turn them down from 72 to 68 because it quickly got hot in here. While the heat coming out may not be as hot as the heat from a gas furnace or electric space heater, it moves far more air in general. The heat coming out won't be hot enough to set something on fire like a space heater, but the massive amount of air it moves quickly made me see why it didn't need to be any hotter. The heat these provide are more impressive when I realized they use less than 1000 watts each when they are on heat. Most much smaller and less capable space heaters use at least 1500 watts. This thing does have a setting to use to dry out or evaporate the water it has accumulated. If you don't use the included drain hose and leave the drain plugged, it will evaporate this water off when it fills up. If you use it, what's interesting is that the drain is pressured; it comes out with a bit of force, enough to blow bubbles when submerged. It won't splatter water everywhere, but what's good about this is that it means it won't get clogged up like the drain on most air conditioners. I have been working from home for years and years, long before covid, so I know how important it is to have a quiet room to work in as background noise can not only be distracting, but can get you fired. This thing sits less than 6 feet away and can't be detected on my mic. Again, a working unit shouldn't be loud. It says to let it stand upright for at least 2 hours before turning on. I let them stand for at least twice that time, 4 hours. This might be the reason my units are quiet because once that compressor pushes air, it will never run quietly again if it keeps working. As far as the remote, you don't have to point it right at it for it to work. This, like all portable air conditioners, will create a bit of a vacuum which will pull air into any cracks in your walls, windows, floors, etc. No matter how well your home was built, it will pull that air in from somewhere... kitchen vents, dryer vents, bathroom air vents, etc. This happens because the air that the unit uses to cool the rear radiator, which vents outside, is pulled from the back and sides of the unit. It also pulls the air that it is going to heat or cool through the same area. So only some of the air is coming back out into your home (the air that is heated or cooled), but about half of all the air coming in is pushed out of the back of the air conditioner out of the vent that goes through the window. I'm used to using portable air conditioners, so I tend to build a box around them and put an extra vent near the back and pipe it outside, about half the size of the one going out. That tends to stop the issue and give me far greater BTU value than it is rated at. Otherwise, I just leave a window cracked somewhere near the unit as I am used to having to do this with wood stoves anyhow.

SereneLife Small Air Conditioner Portable 10,000 BTU - A Versatile and Efficient Cooling Solution
The SereneLife Small Air Conditioner Portable 10,000 BTU is a reliable and efficient cooling system designed for rooms up to 450 square feet. This unit boasts a built-in dehumidifier and heating function, making it a versatile choice for various weather conditions. One of the standout features of this air conditioner is its ease of installation and portability. The unit comes with a window mount exhaust kit, which simplifies the setup process. Additionally, the built-in caster wheels and top handle make it easy to move the unit from one room to another, providing flexibility in managing different areas of your home or office. The 10,000 BTU cooling capacity is sufficient for most small to medium-sized spaces, and the unit can also provide warmth during colder months, making it a year-round solution. The remote control allows for convenient operation from a distance, and the digital display provides clear information on the unit's functioning. However, some users may find the noise level to be a bit high during operation, especially at the highest fan speed. Additionally, the unit's energy efficiency may not be on par with some of the more advanced inverter technology air conditioners on the market. Overall, the SereneLife Small Air Conditioner Portable 10,000 BTU is a solid choice for those seeking an affordable, versatile, and efficient cooling solution for smaller spaces. While it may not be the quietest option available, its portability, built-in dehumidifier and heating functions, and ease of use make it a valuable addition to any home or office.

Average, blows cold
My 7 year old Honeywell (HW) portable AC has served well in the ever warming summers in Seattle when I need it, but has definitely been on its way out since last year, and my West facing top floor condo gets miserably warm in our long evenings this summer if it's even 80F+ outside. I picked this up to try in my bedroom while the HW slowly dies admirably on the other end of the condo, it was on sale and was all that could be delivered quickly (which it was, and the delivery was excellent up my several flights of stairs, kudos!) for our final week-long stretch of 80-90F days. It works fine enough, when it settles in on-balance w/ the compressor on its probably ~80% as loud as my reliable Ol' Honeywell (which I never kept in my room & is a 12K BTU unit vs 10K BTU for this one)...but as several others have said...it gets LOUD as the compressor whirls back and forth from its near resonant frequency, and so it's this recurring high pitched whirring sound that is way beyond white noise. I like to sleep with white thunderstorm noise on and this drowns that out completely when the compressor slips towards the whirring end of the resonance. It blows COLD air (like cheap hotel ice cold, it's great, and made me realize how dead my HW unit actually is) and the window kit and hose fit both my unit and sliding window well compared to some of the janky things I've had to slap together with my HW over the years. The fan by itself isn't overly loud on low, but the jolt from that, to randomly off because unlike my HW, when it reaches the set temp it turns all the way off vs the fan staying on all the time, to the full on WHIIIRRIRIRIRIRIRRR it makes is too much to keep in a bedroom. A few days of fidgeting with leveling shims under the wheels (on already level ground) has only made the whirring ~10% better. Next summer this will go in the living room and if it makes it 2-3 years I'll be happy. I would pass on this if I had to buy it again. EDIT: Moving this to my living room and shaking one of the corners around a bit made something knock loose in the wheel area and now it's no longer making the recurring whirring noise (and I could remove the shims I was using), and is definitely slightly more quiet at full blast than my old HW. Fan on high it's keeping my whole condo cool, and is a bearable level of noise, but I still wouldn't keep in a bedroom that I'm sleeping in.

Great unit, requires a little know-how to DIY install
TL:DR: if basic hvac installation sounds doable to you, buy this and save lots of money over name brands. It works fantastic. I’ve never written a review before but felt compelled bc of how well this thing works. If you’re a DIY-minded person, this is such a breeze. Hardest part was hole saw’ing a block wall. Installation instructions are generic for several of their mini splits, but if you’re installing this yourself you shouldn’t need an ikea step by step guide. You do have to vacuum it and redo the factory flare fittings. They’re there to hold the nuts on, not be air tight. IT WORKS AMAZING. My master bedroom is like walking in to the beer freezer at race trac. It’s whisper quiet even on the highest setting. I can’t tell the condenser is running it’s so quiet. I love it. Best upgrade I’ve ever done and it was dirt cheap compared to other brands.

***Was*** a Great product! (for a couple of weeks) Useless
*Editing original review.* Unit quit working just past the 30 days! Just a few weeks after installing this unit, it stopped working. It started blowing warm to hot air so I turned it off for a couple of days and then tried turning it back on. It was still blowing hot air when set to cold. It was just a couple of days past the 30 days for Amazon to accept a return (I had it in the box a week or so before installing) so I reached out to the SereneLife company for a warranty claim or even advice. A week has passed and I still haven't heard from them. Now I am out several hundred dollars and a room without A/C for the remainder of the summer. I should've went to Costco or Sam's, or even Lowe's or Home Depot, to purchase a portable A/C. They have far better customer support than Amazon. I got to talk to a Bot and be told Amazon can't help. Edit 1/1/25: Tried using the heating function since the A/C selection blows hot I figured it might work. It didn’t. So no cooling and no heating. Never have received any word from Serenelife. They never responded to my multiple emails I sent. Original Review This unit is very quick and easy to set up and get started. I am very pleased with the look of the unit as it is very modern looking. It has been great at cooling a spare room that gets no direct flow of air from the central air system. The adjoining room has also benefited from this. The best part is the remote control. It is super clear and easy to use.

What an awesome 5 star high quality a/c/heater/dehumidifier.
I purchased this portable ac/heater/de-humidifier for my 15’X33’X10’ sunroom which has 7 sliding doors and is on the east side of my home. In the summer time heat it is so hot in here even with our central a/c as it is not large enough to cool this add on that we built a few years ago. I also purchased the optional sliding door vent mount and the 4 year extended warranty. I have only had this set up a few days now, however they have all been days in the upper 80’s and I will say that there is absolutely nothing I can say derogatory about this unit. It Cools this entire 495 square ft room that has a 10’ ceiling ( which is 4,950 cubic feet of air space to cool) the ad for this a/c said it would heat and cool a room of 325 square ft (which in an average home would contain 2,600 cubic feet of air space). Therefore my expectations for this was not to be able to cool this room by itself considering that it has almost double the cubic feet that it’s rated for. However I will say that I am very pleasantly surprised & it is actually cooled it so well that i had to turn the thermostat up as it was cooling it so well it was actually to cold in my room without the house central unit even being on. The next thing I was extremely pleased with is that it is so quiet that on high speed unless your right on top of it you can not really hear it running and on low speed across the room you can’t hear it running at all. I will say that my box fan is much louder. I had read other reviews that had said this unit was to loud and that if you put the sweep function on it made a loud clicking sound. Not mine you can not hear a thing when the sweep function is on. This unit was extremely easy to set up it probably took less then 15 minutes to have it set up and running. There was also a negative review done when they said that there was not a drain hose included with the a/c. Maybe that was on oversight on the one they had gotten because mine has a short piece of drain hose in the box. I hooked it up and have it draining into a bucket behind the a/c unit ( see picture.) The final thing i would like to add is that it is a very attractive unit that appears to be of very high quality. Needless to say I would highly, highly recommend this exact unit to anyone that has a heating or cooling problem such as I had. I very honestly can not find a single thing that I am unhappy with. I am very glad that I made this purchase. I forgot to mention the remote control is also very handy! Ti mouthy J. Stewart Sr. Oakwood, Illinois. AUGUST 7, 2022 UPDATE: IHAVE NOW DRILLED A HOLE THREW THE SLIDING DOOR KIT AND RAN TH DRAIN HOSE OUTSIDE. THEREFORE NO MORE HAVING TO EMPTY THE BUCKET.

VERY Satisfied with Purchase
Unit is attractively designed, well-engineered and solidly constructed. It is relatively quiet: the motor-compressor noise level is very low (does not transmit noticeable vibrations to floor) and sound of airflow is "clean" (no added rattles from cabinet or vents.) As a result, the noise added to the room is minimal and amounts to un-intrusive "white noise", not likely to disturb sleep, study, nor conversation. (I've used mine beside my desk during Zoom meetings, with no difficulty, nor comments from others.) I use it to cool a 200 square foot room with 10 feet high ceiling and ceiling fan. This unit is rated to 350 square feet. I chose the larger capacity so as to operate it more efficiently in its mid-range, rather than a smaller unit struggling at its maximum capacity (saving energy, increasing cooling efficiency and extending life of unit.) The controls are clearly marked and easy to use. The remote control works well and offers enhanced features. This is useful as the day/night progresses and outside temperature change and inside activities vary (resting, working, cooking, etc.) I especially enjoy better sleep with the unit on, eliminating the residual heat gained by the building during the day. As an added bonus in my urban environment, the now-closed window and the white-noise of the unit help to virtually eliminate the disturbance from normal urban nighttime activities. This unit's power consumption of only 8.5A @ 120 VAC means the 20A-circuit it shares with my refrigerator (6.0A) only experiences about 75% of capacity: an excellent Safety margin. In my 49.5" wide window, the window vent kit is near its maximum extension. I added narrow foam weather-stripping tape on top & bottom to improve sealing, and used 3M Storage tape (high-strength, high-temp, clear tape) to secure the vent kit to the window frame (top, bottom, ends) and sealing any additional air leaks and/or insect entry points. A drawback to the vent kit: there is no provision to prevent the weight and routing of the vent tube from twisting the window vent kit from its mounting in the window. This is why I chose the heavy-duty tape, as well as carefully routing the vent tube so the a/c unit supports most of the tube's weight. Fortunately, the tube's semi-rigid design helps in this. Final thoughts: the included instructions recommend about 2ft. clearance on all sides. This is to allow recirculating air to enter the unit from the room. Therefore, when locating the unit, consider the path the cooled air must take into your space, as well as the return path it must take back to the unit to discharge the heat it gains and be re-cooled to return again to the room. In other words, remember that the unit recirculates (air goes out and returns in a continuous loop) collecting the room's heat and sending it outside, so the re-circulating path should not be obstructed. In sum: I recommend this Portable Air Conditioner and would not hesitate to buy again, should the occasion arise.

Overall a great investment
Received my unit today and it has already made a major difference in comfort! Pros: -Very cool -Easy to install -Seems durable -comes with 4 modes on some of the units. My unit has a/c, heat, fan, and a dehumidifier. Cons: - Louder than expected - No automatic off and on feature. There is a timer, but a auto function would be much more useful. - When set to cool it would be nice to view the current temperature of the room and where you choose to set the thermostat. Currently you have to turn unit off to view the temperature of the room. Questions: I am wondering if I have to use the drain and bucket to operate the dehumidifier or if it self-evaporates? Overall, I am happy with this purchase and would recommend. It would be nice to have additional features such as smart-wifi capabilities or an auto function for the unit. However, do not let that turn you away from the product. It's very rare to fine something durable, easy to install, and works well.

This is a must buy product
I just got the SereneLife 10,000 BTU Portable AC and I’m really impressed so far. It cools my room quickly, is easy to set up, and I love that it also works as a heater, dehumidifier, and fan. The remote and timer functions are super convenient. It is a bit noisy on high mode, but totally manageable. Great value for the price perfect for small to medium-sized rooms!
