I leave dry cat food out for a couple of the stray cats. It was always throwing out the leftovers because those ants were all over the food. I sure didn't want to bring them back inside the house or garage. Anyway, this crazy dish actually works! No ants. It doesn't keep the crows away but at least the boys (strays) don't have to fight with the ants for the food. I am purchasing another dish because, like most strays, they don't share.

I bought this for my outside cat with the hope that it would keep ants from getting into her food bowl. Unfortunately after I put food in this bowl for her meal, about an hour went by and I went outside to check and ants were all inside the bowl. So it did not keep the ants out, at all.

I got this dish for a stray cat that has taken up residency in my backyard. Works for wet and dry food. I live in Florida and we have ants year round. The dish keeps ants out if used correctly. I'm keeping mine on a flat, debris free surface with its sides not touching anything. It only takes a leaf or twig or being placed with the sides touching a wall or structure for ants to find a way in. With that being said, my star deduction is an improvement suggestion: the lower edge of the outer rim could be a little higher. I think it would make it even better/easier to keep bugs out.

We have ants on our porch. They absolutely cannot crawl up into this bowl. It is fantastic. The pet food stays ant free.

I feed 5 community cats in north Florida, and this year the ants came out in force. Putting their bowls in trays of water worked but it was a drag. Tried these bowls and they worked perfectly. I started with one, then ordered 4 more so each feral has its own bowl. No more fighting to be first! I imagine it's possible that really big ants could reach to get in, but I have those too around my house and it hasn't happened yet. These are also easy to stack together to bring inside and put in the dishwasher. I couldn't be happier. NOW -- can someone invent an equally effective way to keep flies away?

These worked well for a while, but ants are very crafty. It only took them about a week or more to devise away to reach the outer rim using the backs of other ants. If the outer rims were a little higher from the ground then they might be ant-proof, but as they are they are only ant-resistant. What worked best for me is the use of 8 inch stainless steel cake pans. I simply put about a third of an inch of water in the bottom of the pan, and then put a cat or dog food bowl in the center of the cake pan. It works even better if you use a slip resistant cat or dog food bowl to keep the bowl from sliding to the edge of the cake pan. Ants will not cross water to get to the cat or dog food bowls.

I bought this dish to keep the ants away from my cat's food dish. It works wonderfully! The ants can't climb up the side so they left! I'm very pleased with this product so far and would recommend it to keep ants out of and away from pets' food dishes.
