Don't know the rated number of "pounds", but when it comes to magnetic bases, you can't believe the ratings of cheap ones anyways. I have this one, and am satisfied 100%. You can never go wrong with Starrett. Painful to spend this much on a magnetic base, but it is a great lifetime investment.
