Is it good for wooden tables?

I bought my plastic cover to protect a large wooden table top that is used for dining, homework, projects, meetings, unloading groceries, etc. It has done an excellent job for about a year so far) since it lets the beauty of the wood show through and protects the table top from spills. However, you cannot put something very hot directly on the plastic cover; writing on one thickness of paper with a pen leaves an imprint on the plastic; and it is harder to pick up something thin (like a sheet of paper) from off the plastic compared to the bare table top.

has anyone experienced a non transparent surface, sort of like bubbles when you lay it down?

Air bubbles like when you cover a phone? Yes. Make sure the table and the clear cover are both clean of any fingerprints and lay the cover slowly, pressing out any bubbles as you go.
