Review: Diablo 3 replacement with way fewer headaches - I really like this game, it is way better than DIablo 3, for a bunch of reasons, Better characters, it is cheaper, has NO DRM/Battlenet issues- you do have to go to steam to authenticate and update but unlike the trouble plagued Battlenet, Steam seems to never have any issues, ( Hey Blizzard you Jerk-O's learn from your competition mostly good games but a terrible greedy incompetant company these days I hate Blizzard now) and can play single player offline and with LAN as well for multiplayer, Torchlight 2 has some different and nice game features. It is also MOD-friendly unlike anything Blizzard does. I love how accomadating the game is with gear and options the pet is also kinda fun and handy for more inventory space and its ability to go to town for you, I have not finished this game yet, but I like dual wielding a pistol and sword simultaneously with my Outlander and I look forward to a second play thorugh using the Paladin available from a synergies MOD for free. About my only complaint is the weapons look stupid-cartoony( has anybody who designs games ever really realized form follows function- real swords are shaped that way because they work best in that shape, its minor but it pisses me off a bit) but the character customization is good, choice of sex, head, hair, skin tone, and 4 classes to choose from without any mods applied. Since this was developed by the guys who did Diablo 2 ( apparently they were betrayed by Blizzard and all fired) it really does remind me of Diablo 2 in a lot of ways and plays like it. So far it is bug free and performs flawlessly. I like the firearms but I never knew that flintlocks could fire so rapidly ( sarcasm) but that is no more idiotic than hand crossbows are. Monsters are all the usual suspects pretty much and superbly adequate. The loot drops are good and there are a lot of items. If you die ( !!!) it gives you the very cool option of restarting in town or where you are for a penalty in gold I like that, I was pretty deep in my cups and I stopped to make a cocktail and got killed by carelessly not pausing it. I am at work at the moment and just wish I could play right now, ha my boss would want to play it too! Some will say it isnt all that original compared to say Diablo 2 that doesnt make it bad at all. I wish I had known about this game sooner. Thanks Daedalic great game but if you have questions about weapons ask an expert or do the research, maybe there is a mod to make weapons look better. Be sure and select English on install since the game is in German normally. Still very enjoyable, Divinity Original Sin is next! Review: The game is awesome, a lot will be familiar from the first ... - First off Forget EVERYTHING you learned about Torchlight 1, and as a matter of fact just put it away because you will never play it again. The game is awesome, a lot will be familiar from the first game, but a LOT has changed. You will now have 4 choices of male or female characters, and 6 pets instead of 2... Powering up your gems... Forget it!... Enchanting your eguiptment... All changed. The game is more totally different than it is the same. You are no longer stuck in one town just exploring two caverns... In Torchlight 2 you travel... You travel a lot!!!... From desert lands to frozen lands and everything in between, and there are caverns everywhere. Most aren't more than two floors down but you can bet your bunnies there is a Boss in every one so be prepaired. Also there are hives of all kinds that you kinda have to ignore all the little critters that are tearing you up and destroy the hives first so they stop producing all the little critters. If you liked Torchlight 1 at all... You will LOVE Torchlight 2. I also want to give a two thumbs up plus to the Runic Support Team... I wanted to play this offline on my gaming computer that will NEVER get corrupted by going on line... I wrote to the Runic site and I won't give his last name but a tech named Tim walked me through everything, and then gave me help when I had other troubles with a different computer, I have NEVER had a better experience dealing with a tech rep in my life than I did with Tim from Runic. Get the game from a reputable dealer, I ordered mine straight from Germany, and it got here as fast as any item ordered locally. All I can say is awesome game!

Great game, works offline
I don't have an internet connection on the computer I play this game on, so I was happy that the offline mode works fine. However you will need to get a code from Runic to activate it offline, and it took a week for their customer service to send mine.

better than i had hoped!
1st off, when i go on-line, it says this game is no longer supported. i haven't messed around enough to find out, i just play it solo. you do seem to need to be on-line to start the game, but then i just dis-connect the internet while it loads, no hassles. there are some changes from the 1st game, but over-all they are good ones. there's a new upgrade system for items and gems that takes some figuring out, but it works well.several character classes, and some cool pets; i find the berserker teamed with a cud-chewing llama hilarious! if you can find this, you should buy it - my seller sent it well-packed and timely, in perfect condition!

Well done by the books ARPG
This is a pretty good time killer but it is a bit on the easy side so far on veteran settings. I made a simple glass cannon embermage and take out most major bosses in under a minute. I made a tank engineer and I seldom see his health fall below 90%. The cut scene animations are crudely animated affairs but they are short and to the point. The graphics look good and the game play is smooth even on my seven year old PC. This thing has next to no bugs and it has never crashed on me. I look forward to testing out its modding features. The pet is a nice touch that serves as pack mule, cannon fodder and delivery boy all in one. You can even teach it spells and equip a few items onto them, making them quite versatile. I set mine up as a healer/summoner. It isn't everyday that you have a companion in video games that is actually a pleasure to deal with. If you aren't into that sort of thing, just pick a tiny one, set it to passive and it is easy enough to ignore. I like them and chose the panda. :P

Just what our gaming group wanted ...
Torchlight 2 (by Runic) delivers the Multiplayer LAN Co-op game that our gaming group wanted. We do not want Steam or any other 3rd party between us and our game, so this "BLACK" version is right. "BLACK" currently ships only from Germany, but don't be put off by the German language when you open it up - - just click on the "British Empire" flag and you will get perfect English where you need it. We play on a "hardwired LAN" and it works for us. The game's only fault, also shared by the original Torchlight game, is that it uses "isometric view", so you cannot turn to face your enemies. We have just recently received this game, so we have yet to experience most of the adventure. For a similar product with full 3-D, try Dungeon Siege Original, Legends Of Aranna, Dungeon Siege 2, or Broken World. Our group has used these Microsoft games for 10 years and we love them (Thank you, Chris Taylor). But we are looking for another game now, just for variety.

Fun game to LAN
This was a nice. I LANed it with my friend and we spent many hours enjoying it. There are a lot of cool features like sending you pet back to town to sell your items which comes in very handy You can play as different character classes and customize your look to a certain point. The storyline itself is somewhat short but there are many maps that you can get to play afterwards or use the game editor to make a new map/game to play. There are really nice detailed graphics and great music ( Diablo music composer) If your game is choppy then you can use the settings options to take away some of the graphic options like shadow etc and that will help your game run smooth depending on your system. I would recommend it.

One is better than 2
It's OK but I still prefer Torchight I. It may sound odd but there are too many 'quests' and the maps are never ending. Some may like that but I found myself losing interest and glazing over after a while.
