Have used my grinder once a week for 4 years and love it!
I've had my grinder since 2004 and I love it! I was going to buy one for a friend so I came to Amazon to do so and was shocked to see all of the people who don't like it! We are "weekend coffee drinkers" who only tend to grind beans once a week on weekends, when we are entertaining or just relaxing around the house. I am usually grinding beans for about 5 or 6 people at a time and I use it, as the instructions say, by grinding only 20 or 30 seconds at a time. I use it for grinding good quality beans to a coarse grind for use in my French Press.I wonder if some of the people whose motors have started smoking or burned out have been keeping the motor running for a few minutes at a time? Or perhaps they have washed the cup in the dishwasher so much with hard water that there is a scale build up?I like the fact that the grinder cup has a plastic lid, so that if I grind too much I can easily save it in the refrigerator.I also like the fact that it is so easy to use and that you just press down on the bar on the top of the clear plastic lid to get it to grind. When you stop pressing the bar, the motor stops. And, I can see inside and decide if I want to grind a bit more or not.Additionally, I like the fact that the grinder is quite compact and can sit on my counter without taking up too much room, plus is stainless steel, so looks good. The best part is that the price is quite reasonable for a lightly used small appliance.I would recommend this grinder to anyone who likes to grind their own beans for use in a French Press occasionally, but it may not be heavy duty enough for daily use (I'll tell you in another 3 years, because that would be the equivalent, I suppose!)

Best Coffee Grinder, Just Buy It!
I love this coffee grinder! This is the 3rd one I've had, the first 2 were given to me already used, this is the first brand new one I've purchased. It's much quieter than the last two! Super easy to use, grinds beautifully, clear lid is nice so you can see what's going on. It even includes a lid to put on the grinder cup if needed. I don't have any issues with it overflowing out the sides.

The best coffee grinder, by far
After five years, I am starting on my second Cuisinart Coffee Grinder. While on the surface that might not sound like a raving review, it is. I used my grinder every three days for five years and last week, despite the clear marker for full level, I overfilled it and burned up the motor. I accept full responsibility and I promptly replaced it with exactly the same model.I tried to replace it a few months ago. Not because it doesn't grind perfectly, but because I have to stand there and hold the button down the entire time to run the motor. When I first bought it I tested grind times and found that I get the perfect consistency at three minutes. A safe button that requires you to hold it down is probably ideal to many, but I see it as three minutes I could spend eating my breakfast or feeding the dogs — three lost minutes. I bought several different coffee grinders and returned each one. They simply did a poor job on grinding the beans, even at their finest settings. (I make espresso, so I want an extremely fine grind and the other models just couldn't do it.)For all you reviewers who complain about half-ground beans, try grinding for longer. It's a simple fix and is as designed.I highly recommend this product and just about any other product with a Cuisinart logo. Good, sturdy, dependable equipment.

Good. Not great.
Overall it functions well once the metal cup is properly seated on the grinder. That said? It doesn’t easily seat well … in that sense it works about 70% as well as the one we had before (for over 10 years and many many cups of coffee).Just doesn’t seem as well made. But it does grind well. So we’ll see how long it lasts.

Cusinart DCG-12BC
We are attempting to replace our over 10 year old Cuisinart DCG-12BC grinder with the same exact one. We received the replacement and after 1 use the blade is making a really loud noise and the shaft is really loose. I think the shaft or bearing broke on it. Sent it back to Amazon and received a second replacement and the same this has happened. I'm done with this and looking for something else.. Very disappointed in Cusinart and how their product is garbage! Beware if you buy one!

Great grinder at a reasonable price.
Product works very well. Easy to use. Easy to clean.I use one rounded tablespoon of beans for each two cups of water vice one for one like the instructions state, and the coffee tastes great. It does make a bit of noise when running, so don't try to run it if someone is sleeping nearby.Shipping was unsatisfactory though. Paid extra for two day shipping and the grinder didn't arrive for five days.

Best coffee grinder I owned
This is the best coffee grinder I have had. I tried other brands and they weren't as durable as the Cuisinart.Great design and can be used for spices as well as coffee.
User
Best grinder by far.
Great grinder, unfortunately they aren’t that durable. This is my third one in about 9 years, but still my favourite grinder by far- I’ll keep replacing them when they break.

Excelente

poor product design
I have many Cuisinart products for my kitchen. I would not recommend this product for its poor design. The cup is made too shallow and the lid does not seal the content which allows ground coffee to spill outside, creating a mess each time after use.
