TrackMaster, Molly

My son is a very big Thoms the Train fan and we're in the process of trying to gather up all of the trains that he doesn't already have as Christmas gifts for him. I was very glad to add this one, along with Emily, to our stockpile for Christmas. The train looks to be a really good quality, just like most other Thomas the Train items that I've purchased.

This train for one reason or another became extremely hard to find in local retail outlets when my son decided he wanted it. Isn't it always that way though? So off to Amazon I went, found it, great price, bought it, and it is what it is. No problems with the product. Do note though that this train is propelled (pushed) by the "coal car" in the back and if you happen to have a fairly abrubt bend or switch track with a bend/curve, this train can and will be pushed off the track at times.

The design on this motorized train, has the engine and battery in the tender, which causes the train to twist and run off the track a lot. My kids also just like to drive these trains on the open ground, and this train will just turn circles. We have other motorized trains by Fisher Price where the battery and engine are in the engine, such a superior design. I will try and return this one. AWEFUL design flaw.

This train is different than the others I ordered. The coal car is motorized, not the front engine. This is ok if it is on a track but my kids just play with them on the floor and the front train always goes to one side and is pushed forward by the back (if that makes sense). It's weird and my middle child was disappointed it wouldn't just drive forward like his brothers trains.

The power is in the coal car so if it's not on a track it just goes in circles.

Well made and moves quick despite motor in lag car. Moves faster than single car Thomas. Delightful for my girls who need a break from princesses but like a girl(y) train.

This Trackmaster train is better designed than most of the other ones. The connectors between the train and caboose are sturdier and therefore help keep the train together better. This used to be a point of frustration for my son when he was younger because he couldn't put the connectors together himself--but with this model, it wouldn't have been an issue since it stays put. Now that he's a bit older he can connect it himself, but I wish the other Trackmaster trains had the sturdier connectors as well. I love Molly's bright coloring as well. The slight negative is that the batteries go into the caboose rather than the train itself, so if you don't use her on a track, she just goes around in circles instead of going straight.

Do not pay more than $10 for this cheap piece of plastic. After I received it, I went back to read description and couldn't find 'wood' or 'metal.' There is a reason for that. Not something we want to add to any collection.

Well packaged and arrived promptly. Slightly odd that wheels of engine don't have coupling rods across the wheels like the other engines in the range but my son is delighted with his new addition to the shed!

Bought as a birthday present for a child at his request. Just what he wanted, delivered in good time and well wrapped.

As in all Thomas things my sob loved it.
