Can this adaptor be used with a supernova2 chuck that is 1 1/4 8tpi and fit a jet 16x40 lathe that is 1 1/4 8tpi?

I have a Grizzly lathe same size and it fits it is a 8 1" to 8 1 1/4. why would you need an adaptor for 1 1/4 to 8?

What is the spindle size on the Comet mini? I believe it is 1”-8tpi. You need the Nova insert for the Nova2 that has an internal thread of 1”-8tpi
