Speedball No. 5 Artists Pen Set - 2 Penholders w/ 6 Nibs, 3 Pen Tips

Got these for cartooning and drawing Manga. Comes with a little instructional booklet, which is pretty handy. It actually does come with 9 nibs, 3 of which are fine point art nibs. These are great for small details, and though they're a little scratchy at first, they will break in. This is a versatile set of nibs, basically everything you need to start cartooning.

This is the first time i ever try to use a dip pen so i choose this one, its perfect for first timers, its cheap so it worth the risk whether you like it or not, it even come with a few tips on how to use it and take care of it, if you still have problems there are a few You tube videos where you can get more tips .

It's a great kit, but not without it's flaws. Starting off with the positive is that you get a lot of bang for your buck here. Two dip pens along with a little pamphlet that gives you a brief introduction on the basics of calligraphy and pen art. Eight types of tips are in this kit, as well as a sip pen that already has it's own tip built into it. It's definitely worth the price. As an artist who prefers cosshatching and hatching, there are a few statements i would like to make about this set. It's good, but not amazing. Granted, getting this set will help you save money because a good bottle of ink will last you a good while longer than other art pens (this kit will save you a lot of money if you get the right ink for it), but there's one noticeable flaw. The pen drips a lot. It will drip ink all over if you jerk the pen too quickly. This problem is fixed by flicking the pen quickly over some paper towels to prevent it from dripping later on, and it will still drip on occasion.

It's Speedball! That should say it all! The nibs are wonderfully made without flaws, write very well, and hold ink for a long enough time to write quite a bit before re-dipping.The second pen for drawing is just as easy to hold for perfect penmenship and drawing and the original holder. If you love writing/drawing with specialty pens/inks, then this is for you. If you are looking to start a new hobby, this is a great start-up! Get some ink and paper and get started!

I bought this set for my kids and I to play around with. We had gotten some feather pens with calligraphy nibs, but we were all having trouble getting good strong lines with the fine point nibs… these made such a difference! Would recommend

The holder is very cheap and does not have the usual ferrule with the four arms inside to hold any nib. It simply has a circle groove cut into the plastic. Some non-Speedball nibs are not going to fit in it. The nibs vary -- some are pretty good and most are not good at all. I was especially disappointed in the C series nibs. Very scratchy even on Rhodia paper. I would pass on this, and put together your own calligraphy set. Get a universal holder and buy your own nibs. These sets all consist of frustrating nibs and holders which will discourage dip pen newbies.

These will give you a new appreciation for the modern ink pen. Five stars for being a budget calligraphy set with a wide range of nibs, but the whole romance of dipping from an ink well gets pretty old. I'd rather save up and spring for a decent fountain pen. Oh, and get some Noodler's ink to go with them.

I guess you can spend a lot more on starter pen sets, but this seems to offer everything a budding calligrapher needs to learn his or her craft before getting out the old parchment. They seem very well made, the handle holds everything sturdily and the little really fine pen is pretty cool. There are some starter books and sites on the internet, so what you all waitin for?

Fantastica penna a inchiostro, economica e perfetta con i suoi pennini intercambiabili e davvero utili. Le penne sono 2, una piccola per fare tratti finissimi con il suo pennino, una più grande per tutti gli altri (sono 7, 2 uguali e 5 di diversa larghezza). Sono arrivati in brevissimo tempo.

I have used many other nibs before I got my first set of speedball and I have to say, it is the best calligraphy nib that I have ever used. It induces fluidity in your handwriting and the flourishings looks light and unforced. I have taken calligraphy seriously in the last five years but I have been practising since late 80's.

This is a very nice pen. I haven't used all the nibs yet but what I have used I'm very happy with. Most of the nibs are made to hold the ink and they do. It writes smoothly. I just write a bit and use it for drawing so far and am happy with the performance.
