To the one struggling to decide which ear plugs to get, I hope this helps. I spent hours, if not days, researching ear plugs on Amazon. I ended up with 8 different ones because, well, I’m indecisive. Many of these didn’t work for me due to my own weird ear anatomy but I wanted to give my experience with each and what I’d recommend given your situation. Everything is subjective, but I hope this helps someone else as the previous reviews helped me. I’ll put my quick summary first and the details after for those wanting more info. *The pink ear plug is an average run-of-the-mill ear plug for size comparison. To summarize: If you have shorter ear canals and more sensitive ears I would recommend Mack’s Thermafit, adult/kids silicone ear plugs, or Hearos Softstar foam. If you have average ear canals and want the most noise blocking I would get Howard Leight. If you prefer contoured earplugs and find them to be the most comfortable then get Flents Protech Contour. If you have very narrow (but not short) ear canals, then get Mack’s slim fit or Flents Protech Sleeping. White Hearos Softstar foam: These ear plugs are wider than most but shorter and the foam is very soft. They are comfortable and didn’t hurt my ears, even when laying on my side. The foam is so light and fluffy though it lets in more noise than other ear plugs. If comfort is most important to you, you’re a side sleeper, and you don’t need complete silence, these are for you. Tan Mack’s Thermafit: This was the last pack of ear plugs I ordered to try and I finally found the right ones for me. The foam expands more quickly and is a bit rougher texture than others but once you get it in your ear it is just as comfortable at the Hearos and blocks as much (if not more) noise as Howard Leights and silicone. If you have short ear canals, want something comfortable that blocks out the most noise, try Mack’s thermafit. Purple Mack’s Slim fit: I have somewhat smaller ear canals but these were too narrow for me. They didn’t block any sound and despite them being thin, they are still long. If you have very narrow ear canals that are an average length, these would be a good choice for you. Dark Green Howard Leight low pressure: Howard Leights are soft and I found that they blocked out the most sound out of all the ear plugs I tried. They are a bit long for my ears but I just have short ear canals. If you have average ear canals and want the most noise blocking ear plugs, I would recommend these. Light Green Flents Protech Contour: I like contour ear plugs because my ears are sensitive. These are pretty large ear plugs and not the best for those with small ears. They were the best price of all the earplugs I tried. If you have average-larger ear canals, are a side sleeper, or prefer contoured ear plugs, these are for you. Blue/White Flents Protech Sleeping: I thought these would be my Goldilocks ear plugs after I liked the regular Protech contour ones but found them to be too big. Well these were way too small. They fit in my ears easily but don’t block any noise, much like the slimfits. I can still hear the clock ticking, the traffic, my dog snoring everything. I’m so bummed! If you have tiny (and I mean tiny) ears and like the contoured foam, I would get these. Mack’s silicone ear plugs (orange kids and clear regular): As someone who generally hates having things deep in my ears, silicone ear plugs sounded like the way to go. I found the clear ones to be huge and I was having to cut them in half so I ended up getting the kids size. They are comfortable and are good for side sleeping. They also block out a lot of noise. My issue with these is that they tend to suction to your ear which is uncomfortable and you can hear your heart beating in your ears. I think it’s something you can get use to though. If you hate foam/regular ear plugs, have small or sensitive ears, and want to still block a lot of noise, I’d try these. Of all the ones I tried, I found Mack’s Theramfit to be the best all around. I have slept in earplugs for years and have tried most of the brands available. The wax brands are awkward and uncomfortable so I steer clear of those. I have tried many varieties of the soft foam "pointy" ear plugs but they don't work well for me. They are too slim to really block the noise and too slippery to stay in my ears all night. These are the only brand that both blocks sound and that will still be in my ears in the morning. The form factor is slightly fatter and the foam is not so "slick" as the competing brands. Love them and will continue to purchase as I run out.

I use ear plaus for sleeping. I used Flents Quiet Please for a long time, but when I got a new jug, they had changed they material. They had a shiny finish and were too "spingy" - they would snap back into shape before I could get them properly inserted. They are also skinnier and 1mm longer than the old version, which combined with bad fit, made them stick out too much. So I poked around and found Mack's ThermaFit. The Mack's have the same coarse surface texture as the old Flents and they are the same size as the old Flents. They work well. They don;t last quite as long per pair, but they are a good replacement for the old Flents Quiet Please (which I don;t even see listed on Amazon anymore).

These are easy to use - squish to compact, then stick them in your ears. They slowly expand to block the sound. These are only rated to remove about 29 decibels, so roughly the sound of a whisper. For loud noises, they'll take the edge off, making sounds like blenders, lawn mower, vacuums from potentially harmful levels into the safe zone. They do not block standard conversations, but they do kind of muffle the voice. When I was wearing them, I did not need to remove them to hear someone who wanted to speak to me. I purchased these mainly for sleeping. I fall asleep very easily, but this year I started to wake up in the middle of the night, and then couldn't fall back asleep because my mind was hyper-focused on every noise. I tried some other earplugs that I had for construction work, but they kept falling out of my ears when I slept. Thanks to these earplugs, I am finally able to sleep again, and I feel like I have my life back! They block out my husband's snoring, and even my extremely loud (dying) refrigerator. They still sometimes fall out of my ears when I sleep, but I keep a few on my nightstand so I can just grab a new one and get back to sleep, and retrieve the missing one in the morning. I should mention I have very small ears (most earbuds do not fit me and fall out immediately), so the fact that these stay in most nights is pretty amazing. They do not block out the sound of my alarm in the morning, which I was a little worried about. I'm also currently singing with a large orchestra, and rehearsals are in smaller spaces with speakers to amplify the sound. It can be very loud (danger zone on my decibel reader). With these earplugs, I can hear myself sing and also still hear the orchestra, but it does kind of block the singers around me if I needed to listen to others.

According to my purchase history, I've ordered these 11 times! Despite what the research says, earplugs like these WILL stretch your ear canal. I wish there were another option that didn't need to go inside your ear, but I've searched endlessly for something else and have never found an alternative. I used to use Mack's soft foam earplugs which are way smaller and had to keep switching as each type I used would eventually be too small to block out any noise. I discovered these Thermafit earplugs which expand to your ear's shape and these are the only ones that are now big enough to fit my ears and block out the noise. I can stick my finger directly into my ear hole now and go straight back whereas I was never able to do that before. So I wanted to say that first! If you are a consistent earplug user, this may also happen to you. I also find that these strip the natural oily feeling from the surface of my ears and this dryness can sometimes be irritating. That being said, these have helped tremendously with sleep since I started using them and that makes these worth it for me. I'm an extremely light sleeper and any kind of noise will jolt me awake. With these in, I find that 90-95% of the noise is blocked out, e.g. dogs barking, people talking and walking around upstairs or downstairs, music, tv, garbage trucks, etc. There's a small percentage of loud noise that will get in and that makes me comfortable if there's ever an emergency. I did have a real fire in the old building I was in and the fire alarm went off with these in and I heard it just fine! You do need to briefly massage and roll the ends of these first for a few seconds to fit them comfortably in your ears. Directions for these types of earplugs also recommend pulling your ear back to open up your ear canal for easier insertion. My ear holes are unfortunately so large now that I can kind of just roll and stuff these in, so that works for me although I recommend doing it the right way. Once in, you will feel them expand to fit your ears. I don't really have issues with the level of comfort but sometimes I do need to adjust one side if it hurts laying on it. There are quite a few of these in a jar and I stretch their use by using one side one night and the other side the next night and then I toss them. I usually get the large jar of 40 but with inflation I'm having a hard time prioritizing the cost of earplugs in my budget. I wish Mack's would offer an in between count of 25 or so and not just a quantity of 10 or 40. I took a star off what would normally be a five-star rating because the last batch I received has a bunch of earplugs firmly stuck together and also stuck firmly to the bottom of the jar. While sometimes these will lightly stick together and need to be pulled apart, I've never had that issue pervasively with these before and it makes me question if they were old stock or if these have gone down in quality recently, as most products have.

I always wore Flent’s ear plugs. They worked fairly well. Then the last jar I bought looked different and flat did not work. It was like I didn’t have in earplugs. So I had to find another brand. Well Mack’s saved the day. They worked so good that I slept right through my alarm this morning! I will have to turn up the volume. And they are super comfortable.

These earplugs feel more like a finely textured sponge than a slippery memory foam. They crush to about 1/3 the diameter, and are a little slow to expand. It makes it easy to get them in place. And then, while they expand, you can just listen to the world get quieter. :o) They don’t block out all the sound; I still feel safely aware of the world around me. But they sure do dim it to a level I can sleep through. I can wear them for hours and my ear canals still feel dry, even in high humidity. I’ve worn others that make me worry I’m creating a damp environment for bacteria.

UPDATE: Since the time I wrote my paragraph below, these Thermafit earplugs have been changed by the manufacturer. The biggest issue is that they are now longer. That means the earplugs stick out. So when your head comes in contact with the pillow, the earplugs will pull out of the ear. I saw another reviewer advise to cut off the end just a bit so I did that and that problem is solved. They also do not expand into the ear canal as well as the previous version. For those reasons I removed one star. But I still find these are the best ear plugs available right now. When the Flents company changed their Quiet Please earplugs, they were so altered as to be unusable. I find these Mack's Thermafit earplugs still work well with the alteration I recommended. ORIGINAL REVIEW: For anyone coming here from being a Flents Quiet Please user (which in 2024 changed how they are made), these Mack's Thermafit Soft Foam earplugs are The Ones. I had been a decade-long user of Flents earplugs, but when they changed for the worse, I had to find another brand. I am elated to have found these Mack's ThermaFit earplugs. They fit comfortably, stay put even for restless sleepers like me, and most of all, block noise very well. I first bought the 10-pair package, then liked them so much I bought this 40-pair size. Thank you so much Mack's!

Sou sensível a ruídos e moro em uma avenida movimentada, esquina com uma rua íngreme barulhenta, por onde passam todos os tipos de veículos extremamente barulhentos. A cereja do bolo é a obra de um prédio bem ao lado de casa. Já tinha usado outro protetor parecido com este, da Flents, que não acho mais para comprar e outro da Mack's, o Dreamgirl. Este, ThermaFit, é o melhor que já usei até agora. Consigo dormir mesmo com as motos com escapamento aberto passando às dezenas, concretagens nas madrugadas e até tiroteios (!). Felizmente consigo ouvir o despertador do celular. Já me salvou também nos dias de bate estaca durante o dia na obra vizinha. Um pouco desconfortável nos primeiros usos por conta das bordas (reutilizo o mesmo par algumas vezes), mas geralmente basta retirar e inserir novamente. Ainda bem que inventaram esses protetores e que é possível comprá-los no Brasil. O preço poderia ser mais acessível.

Horrible in comparison to other Mack's earplug models. This product's title says that the earplugs are made of soft foam, however they are hard to shape into the correct form and when you get them into your ear cannal, they put a lot of pressure and actually hurt you. Would most definitely not recommend this product, especially if you have a rather sensitive ear cannal (like me, apparently).

Het is mij zeer goed bevallen , de dopjes , dempen veel, heel goed. Voor mij zijn dit de beste oordopjes die ik tot nu toe gebruikt heb . Het zijn wasbaar dopjes en erg zacht en zitten erg prettig . Ik gebruik ze voor diverse dingen zoals Motorrijden ....slapen .....en ze zijn niet zo duur ook !

They really work well and don’t give me ear aches. I have tried many different ones and keep coming back to these
