works GREAT and saves time polishing
I have some of the traditional Tiffany silver jewelry (the linked chain and the heart) which i have always liked to wear but it is the biggest pain to polish and to get in those grooves of the chain links would drive anyone crazy. not worth all the effort (and i have the necklace AND the bracelet). That was my main motive for buying this cleaning solution but i also have some other silver jewelry that would benefit. so it works JUST as it says. within in SECONDS i had gleaming, beautiful jewelry that looked like i took hours polishing. i did not even remember the last time those pieces looked that good. Added bonus: i had some cheaper jewelry that i thought had the cheap silver film coming off and was ready to throw away. Before I did so, i went ahead and threw those pieces in the basket too. it was NOT the film coming off, it was tarnish on the silver plating I guess b/c this restored those pieces too and they are also looking like brand new! couldn't be happier. this is NOT to be used on stones or anything else. please read the actual details of the product. there is another jewelry cleaner for stones and other items. this is silver and silver plated jewelry only. **the smell: i almost did not get it after people said it smelled. So when first opening, it almost smelled like one of those "wintergreen" tablets that are often in the airplane bathrooms. then after i kept using it kind of DID smell like the actual potty contents w/the wintergreen over it. LOL. so i can def detect the unpleasant smell. however, unless you stick your nose right in it, the smell is not at all over powering. i have a VERY deep sink in the kitchen. i put the container in the sink and used it that way and kept my head and my nose pretty far from the container. it was fine. In no way is the smell a deal breaker b/c for the few seconds that the product is used and if you don't stick your head super close to the container, it is really a non factor**

The best
I have used this product for over 20 years and nothing cleans like it. However, being the strong cleaner it is, it leaves your silver looking pale - more like its unprocessed state - and not shiny as we prefer to see silver appear in jewelry. So here's the dealio: 1) also buy a silver polishing cloth when you buy this solution 1) dip your silver in this solution (you can leave it overnight but it's usually no better than leaving for a couple of minutes unless the silver has somehow become oxidized) 2) rinse thoroughly with tap water, feeling no slick residue on the silver 3) towel dry (might want to shake it out a bit, too, if a heavy piece like a bracelet or a Balearic silver necklace) 4) rub with a silver polishing cloth - the *second-most important* part to the polishing procedure. If you follow these simple steps, your silver will always look amazing with the Connoisseur's solution being the centerpiece and the silver polishing cloth being the companion of tantamount importance. Between dips, the polishing cloth alone will get you by but only until the details unreachable by cloth begin to get colored (the insides of etched details or the insides of chain links, for instance). That said, getting a silver polishing cloth is very important to sparkling silver and they are very cheap - just as this solution is - so don't cut corners by not getting one. However, the cloth is not a substitute for this solution, nor is the solution going to prove its magic without the polishing cloth. Now that you've read this, if you *don't* get a silver polishing cloth, too, be sure to wear a tall and pointed dunce hat at your next social engagement...along with your lackluster silver jewelry. Even a shopworn, discolored cloth blackened by the tugs of silver over the years will still work just as well even after two Miley Cyruses (my newest yard stick for aging). Oh yeah - and just as other reviews have noted - this stuff *does* stink like a rotten egg but only as the solution is frequently used and evaporates over time. When the Connoisseurs Silver Jewelry Cleaner is fresh, it is not so bad at all and smells very much like the household cleaner Simple Green. So far, a simple 8oz jar of Connoisseurs Silver Jewelry Cleaner like this one lasts me about ten years and buddy buddy, *does* the jar I'm replacing today have an odor (it's down to the last inch of solution today). But it DOES take *years* before it gets to stinking like that. You bet I'll forgive the smell of its tenure for all its wondrous effects...and this third jar I am ordering today will last me yet another decade, I'm sure. This is a fantastic investment in a time where few prove so enduring and reliable.

One ring I had since like 2009. The other one since like 2 years ...
I finally got around to using it after buying it a while ago. Ok so I have 2 rings that are sterling silver and 1 bracelet from Tiffany's. The Tiffany's bracelet has been tarnished since 2005. I basically stopped wearing anything that is tarnished and put it away. So I tried it out on the 2 rings first. One ring I had since like 2009. The other one since like 2 years ago, 2013. I tried it on the first ring first and it came out looking great! Then I used it on the 2nd ring and it came out great as well, but that one was barely tarnished. Still it was like brand new after the dip. Now onto my bracelet. It was ALL BLACK before dipping. It has been tarnished SINCE 2005 bc that is when I remember I stopped wearing it. Ok so I dip it for 2 minutes and already it is mostly white. Since it is a chain link thing, some of the crevices were still black. So I dipped it again for another minute. When it came out the second time, it was perfect. White all over. Perfect. So yea this product deserves a review. I never used silver cleaner before and this was like magic. I guess most people would've cleaned their jewelry a lot sooner but I never cared for it. Anyway, I read some other reviews saying that this thing ruined their jewelry. I wonder how it could do that?? The only thing I can come up with is maybe they had stones glued to their jewelry and the stones came out? I have a stone, presumably glued to my first ring, and it is intact. It isn't fit with a bezel so it must be glue. Anyway I don't see how this chemical can ruin jewelry. All it did was clean it for me. I guess don't use it for anything other than silver. I have a white gold necklace and I wouldn't risk dipping it in here. I have had this necklace since I was a kid and it never tarnished. I guess that's the difference between gold and silver. Anyway, this product works. Try it on your least favorite item first (like I did) to make sure it does.

Works great, Smells Awful. Not ideal for allergy sufferers.
Pros: IT WORKS! This stuff is amazing. It cleans dirty jewelry within seconds. It could be black, and 10 seconds later like new. IT'S EASY! No scrubbing or brushing needed. Amazing! IT'S SAFE (for fabric)! Didn't ruin my clothes when I splashed it on myself. Cons: THE CONTAINER. The opening to the container is too small for some items to fit into it, so you have to improvise. THE SMELL. It smells like rotten eggs and flatulence. Seriously, you can't even imagine how bad it smells. It's worse than you're expecting. THE DANGER TO YOUR SKIN. Not good for your skin at all... wear rubber gloves. If it's on your skin more than a few seconds it burns. THE FUMES. With the smell and the fact that it burns your skin like acid, I can't imagine that breathing in the fumes would be very healthy, but I have no proof of this. To me, it's worth it because it is so simple to use and works great. However, if you or anyone in your household suffers from allergies or sensitivity to fumes/chemicals/smells I would say definitely do not use this under any circumstances. Hope this helps!!

Amazing! Fantastic! Cleaned super tarnished silver 15 years unpolished in only 10 seconds!
All I can say is "WOW!" This silver cleaner is AMAZING!! I had NO IDEA it was going to work this wonderfully! I had a drawer full of really tarnished sterling silver jewelry that I had not worn in over 15 years or so. You know how it gets so bad and tarnished after you don't wear it for a while that you just don't want to even TRY to polish it? You have to buy a polishing cream and use a toothbrush to get in all of the tiny nooks and crevices, or maybe a polishing cloth which can't get into those nooks and crevices............ so the jewelry remains unworn, getting darker and darker........ Well, I bought this as an "Add on" for a $25 Free Shipping order. It was well worth it. SO worth it! I am shocked! I put my sterling jewelry into the little basket and like it said, I dunked it in and left it for only 10 seconds (NO LONGER!) and pulled it out and OMG everything was shiny and brand new looking! Every little crevice and tiniest places you could never polish with cream or a cloth was sparkling and bright and so silvery it astounded me! I dunked everything I had--ALL of my sterling and holy cow, it's like I've got a whole new cash of new jewelry to wear again! Amazing stuff!!! Only 10 seconds. Says not to use on gemstones, but I took a chance and did anyhow, and the only ones that came out not looking shiny anymore were some fake pearls. But the garnets, the amethysts, the blue topaz, the citrine, all beautiful. However, follow directions---don't use it on any gemstones you don't want to take a risk with. Well worth the very very cheap price. So easy and fast to use. I am SOLD!!!!!!! (I was going to scrap all of this sterling and get the $$$ for it, but now I'm keeping ALL of it!) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! A+++++++!!!

Instant cleaning of silver items.
This is a very powerful cleaning agent, and I've used it on sterling silver, silver coins, and silver plated items. You will find that it instantly removes light to medium tarnish upon dipping in the cleaner, but be careful not to leave any item in the cleaner for more than 30 seconds before checking to see if the desired cleaning has occurred. If not, repeat dipping the item, but if it is not fully cleaned after a few dips, it is likely that further attempts could damage the item. My wife accidentally left a very light sterling chain in the solution, and the chain was completely dissolved in a few days. Very important: after cleaning, be sure to rinse the item fully in warm water to remove all traces of the cleaner as the cleaner can tarnish the item even after drying. A very unpleasant odor is an unavoidable side affect of the chemical's cleaning process, and the heavier the tarnish and oxidation being removed, the harsher the odor. Just be prepared to replace the cap as soon after cleaning as possible.

Easy to use but quality is so-so
To the product's credit, the basket/dipping design was super easy and I cleaned a pile of jewelry I'd meant to clean for years. That said, I was uncertain how some of the tarnished-but-not-sterling-silver jewelry would take it and the answer was pretty much that it was clean but lost much if not all of its sheen, and the base metal began to show through. So, win-lose. As long as you know what you're getting, it's fine. PS - the "California has named this a carcinogen" warning was pretty disconcerting. I used a fork to lift the basket and remove jewelry, avoiding all direct contact, and closed the lid before, during, and after cleanings.

Results in seconds.
This cleaner was recommended by a jeweler for my sterling silver jewelery. I was amazed at how well it cleaned in just seconds. It doesn't smell the best but that I can overlook for these outstanding result.
