Great gift for my son

I do a lot of prototypes of electronic devices and I like to make the internal wiring neat and orderly, so these devices work perfectly for twisting up the wire pairs. Simple device that is worth the investment. Provides much better results than twisting the wire by hand.

Amazon should remove this item. It creates more problems than it solves. I practiced with this for several hour and used about 12 feet of wire trying to make it work. Worst yet, it broke the wire. So if you were in an outlet box and broke the wire, (by twisting), you would be pissed if it broke so far back in the wall you couldn't use the wire and then have a much bigger problem! Try something else. I went back to my old ways. I tried to submit zero stars, but apparently you have to select one star.

I stripped the wires first, leaving a good inch or more bare. Then I fed all 4 wires into the bit and veeeerry slowly rotated it. 4 wires braided together super tight! I didn't have to hold them with a pliers. They were just coming out of the fixtures. This is a great tool. Saves my wrists and fingers!

I have no doubt that this requires some serious practice in order to get the advertised results. But, since I am 75 and not an electrician, I doubt that such opportunities are going to present themselves before I die. Normally, I would send these puppies back, but I have a grandson who IS an electrician, and I will give them to him and watch as he laughs in my face. Note: I gave this product 5 stars for durability because anything not used always lasts longer. It IS a clever idea, and I give the developers kudos for the concept, but it needs further refinement.

I do alot of car stereo and wiring work. Used to use my drill. These work much better and it looks nice when done.

I purchased the orange and blue, 2 piece unit but this pic show what it does the best. It is simple to use once you get the rhythm down. The hardest part is removing the romex outer cover. There is a slick tool for that but it wasn't in my budget. However, this tool was affordable and made beautiful connections on in in line LED string. The lights were low voltage but I had a 14 gauge Romex installed. The only part that was required for me was buying the correct size wire nut. It is important because the perfectly twisted connection is a fire hazard .

I bought these solely for wire twisting. I also knew they would be crap and need additional work to make them usable. After I removed all sharp edges by rounding them with my Dremel they work great. If you don't do that, they will strip loads of insulation off the wire where you don't want it stripped.
