Great for Post-Surgery!
Admittedly, I laughed when I first saw this product, but what a life-saver! My husband recently had a pretty major surgery that involved several incisions into his abdomen and this product has made it so easy for him to put his socks on without straining himself! I would recommend this product to anyone who is going to have surgery, maybe has a bad back, or is simply getting older and isn't as mobile as they used to be. It's wonderful to use, so simple, and constructed well too. Also, my husband has large feet (size 13) and calves, and it slides socks on nice and smooth.

Ideal and easy solution
I have arthritis and it is nearly impossible to put on socks without a LOT of pain. My wife is happy to help me, but I prefer autonomy. I need to be able to do it myself. I watched a YouTube video about this Sock Aid and thought I'd give it a try. There are instructions with photos, but watching the video I thought was better, watching how it works. On my first attempt I had success. The key is to get the sock all the way on so your toe is going onto the toe of the sock. You then pull up on the handles and they're on! Does this take a lot of extra time? No. It is easy and quick. The best part: it is painless. Let's face it--not all products for people with various handicaps work well, but this one does. Definitely give it a try.

Great product!
Works perfect. Don't understand the mechanics of how it works but it does. I have knee and back issues and it was difficult to put on socks but this device is easy to use and saves my bsck.

The sock helper
Got it for my husband. Getting more stiff and harder to bend over to put socks on. He seems to like it. He socks do go on a little faster then before.

Works like magic!
I got frustrated trying to put my socks on after knee replacement surgery. I didn't see how it could work, but was willing to try it since it didn't cost much. What a life saver! It works like magic -- makes getting my socks on a breeze. I can see myself continuing to use it long after I've recovered from surgery; it's way easier than struggling to get past my gut to get my socks on in the morning.

Classic design works to put on socks without bending over
RMS Deluxe Sock Aid - Socks Helper with Foam Handles for Regular Socks | Help put on socks ... I'm recovering from my second total hip joint replacement surgery. The first (about 15 years ago) was from the back ("dorso-lateral") approach and had VERY strict rules about not bending the hips more than 90 degrees. This one used the modern front (anterior) approach and has much less stringent rules about front bending, but still.. I couldn't find the sock aid from the past so I ordered this one because it looked like the one I had. By the way, the sock-aid the hospital therapist used looked identical to this model. Using this tool is not intuitive (to me at least) but it works well once you know how to use it. 1) draw the sock over the tool; 2) place on floor; 3) slip your foot into it; 4) pull it back until the tool slips out and the sock is over your foot; 5) use your gripper-tool to pull up the edges of the sock. Ha, ha. Sounds simple but it's better if you've seen how it's done (therapist or--these days-- you tube). Now for some tricks I've found from making all the mistakes :) 1) When drawing the sock over the tool, double-check to make sure the heel part goes on the bottom side of the scoop (the side with the rubber pad); otherwise you get stuck half way feeling like a doofus 2) To start, pull the sock all the way onto the tool, so the toe part of the sock is stretched tight against the end of the tool 3) Draw the top part of the sock as far as it will go on the tool, WITHOUT going over the nubbins of the rope; if you do, it may (does) get stuck and won't release. See picture. 4) After you get your foot in so your toe is all the way in, pull back with the tool in line with the foot until your toe meets the toe of the sock (end of the tool), then switch to pulling at an angle so the tool pulls the remainder of the sock over the heel and ankle. The rubber pad on the bottom helps to grip the sock, but this technique (almost) always works. This procedure gets you 90-100% there most of the time, especially for short socks. For calf-length socks, there's no way around having to pull it the rest of the way with your gripper. Don't even think about using this for compression socks; they don't even go on easy with both hands and a helper :) For the rating, I give it 5 stars because it does what it's supposed to, but... With the width of the entry end of tool and the width of the rope, my little toe tends to catch on the inside of the tool (see picture). I can snake it through and maybe it's just fat feet. I'm not sure why the ropes are so long or why they need the big foam handles. I'm 6'2" and always end up pulling on the middle of the ropes (never use the handles); the rope is thick and soft enough to be easy to grip. Overall, in my opinion, it's a good product that does what it needs to

Needs Durability
I have had several of these to use through out getting both hips replaced. The first one lasted quite long . I believe close to 2 years. The recent one that I bought is not as durable. It broke yesterday and hasn’t even lasted a year. Other than that it is a great and very useful product. Just needs to be a little more durable.

One of the best things I’ve ever bought to help me put on my socks it works
Plastic is a little thin, but it works! It does what it’s supposed to do. I’m a little more heavier with my feet so I already cracked. It already got to be thick. all in all it’s worth getting.

Absolutely excellent!
This product is absolutely fantastic. So easy to use. Wish I had bought it sooner leading up to my hip surgery. Highly recommend and I don’t say this lightly.

GAME CHANGER
Works gets your toes right into the end of your sock. Can't wait to see how it works on my compression socks. Why wait be right back. Well ok then, so pretty hard to load cause socks are so tight. However I figured out that if you pinch the sides and pull down, works pretty good. I just put a sock on and toes were in perfect and it took sock about halfway to knee. Then just used hands and pulled up rest of the way. Worked great. I believe these socks are a 15 in tightness. On a 25 or so you would likely have to oil up your foot to get it to slide through the plastic. It was kinda tight with 15 compression. But regular socks this unit works really good. I don't own ankle socks or sockets to test. Well I have sockets but they undue nuts. Anyway if you have bad hips or big guts I have both and putting on socks hurts the hip and knee. Ok update I just put on the other compression sock and what I said about pintch the sides.WRONG squeeze it a bit and slide the sock down easy peasy. Now the instructions say sit in a sturdy chair and your feet flat on the ground. Well I am not going to kitchen to put socks on,I am using a lazy boy recliner rocker. And I have no problem what so ever. My daughter will be really happy I have this cause after using big chainsaw for a day my hip has been sore for 3 weeks it is getting better but older ya get longer to heal. And she has been helping with socks. Mind you tonight will be the first time in 3 or 4 weeks since I wore compression socks as she could not get them on me. So if you can't bend over very well to put on socks this is a true game changer. As a matter a fact I am going to purchase another one for a fellow millwright at work that can't touch his toes and does not wear socks because of it.
