I bought this La Molisana Anelli Siciliani pasta because the little ring shape caught my attention, but after actually cooking it, I am sold on the pasta itself. This was sooooo good! I served it with a simple sauce made from whole cherry tomatoes, garlic, oregano, red pepper flakes, olive oil, a splash of cream and some reserved pasta water. The little rings were perfect for it. Sauce gets inside and around them, so you get plenty of flavor in every bite instead of the sauce just sitting on top. Ease of preparation and cooking time were both excellent. I cooked it just like regular pasta in salted boiling water, stirring occasionally, and it cooked evenly without becoming gummy or sticking together into a big clump. The durability really impressed me. These little rings held their shape through boiling, draining and then being mixed with the sauce. I didn’t end up with a bunch of broken pasta at the bottom of the pot. It had that wonderful firm, substantial bite I want from a good pasta. The appearance is another winner. The rings make an ordinary pasta dish look different and interesting, and they’re just plain fun to eat. I can already think of other uses for them, especially soups and pasta salads. For portion size, the 16-ounce bag is generous, and because this is a pack of two, I think the value for money is very good for a quality imported Italian pasta, especially considering the texture and how well it performed. Helpful tip: Save a cup of your pasta water before draining. These little rings have plenty of surface area, and adding a splash of that starchy water while tossing them with your sauce helps the sauce cling to and work its way into the rings. Most helpful takeaway: Don’t buy this just because the shape is cute. Buy it because it cooks beautifully, holds its shape and has a fantastic firm pasta texture. The fun little rings are just a bonus. I will absolutely buy this again.

Highly recommend for soups. It takes a little longer to cook but it holds up well when placed in soups, very hearty without being starchy.
