This has several easy to follow project instructions, with great pictures, showing the steps.

I have come back to this book numerous times for help as I begin my jewelry making hobby. It is organized and laid out well, and the definitions and illustrations/photos of different types of beads, findings, etc., are very helpful for novices like me. The book contains pretty basic information, and that's a good thing. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to get started off on the right foot with this hobby.

When I first started beading, I bought several bead books. Many of them were a waste of time-but not this one. I refer back to it often for basic information. While it may be a little boring for advanced users, beginners will find it extremely helpful. Getting Started Stringing Beads includes information on shopping for beads (which helped me to understand how bead stores work-I would have been lost without this!). Did you know that when you go into a real bead store you will find a bead tray and clipboards with paper and pens to write down what you buy? It also includes the basics, simple design instructions, information on focal beads, earrings, and helpful tips. This book was well worth the money.

Book will help me repair broken jewelry, and create new jewelry.

I've been wanting to learn /or start making jewelry a few years ago. I had bought some simple items from local craft store, but never really got started(life supersedes hobby). Anyway, I finally decided to give beading a go...I had the basic concept, but I wanted a "Beginners" book to learn the names and so forth. This book has everything you want to know for getting started. EXAMPLE: Starting with your shopping experience, bead types (names-shapes-color), crimping, knotting, wireworking, designs to get you started and much much MORE! On the surface of it, an ultra-simple, ultra-plain beading book sounds like a fine idea. After all, there's so much you can learn that it can be extremely daunting to the beginner. A simple introductory book is less threatening. And in large part, this works in Jean Campbell's Getting Started Stringing Beads. Unfortunately, beading is a complex hobby, and there's no good way to get around that, particularly if you want to cover all the bases. Going with simple inevitably means leaving things out that you really shouldn't. While the basic information and projects are certainly useful, I didn't end up feeling as though I'd gotten all that far into what I needed to know---and didn't feel ready to tackle the complex virtual aisles of an online beading catalog. Best for dabblers or for people who get easily overwhelmed when learning a new craft---probably perfect for those folks.

The title says everything - this is a great little book to get you started stringing beads. If you know nothing at all about the subject, after reading the lengthy detailed introduction you will have a good general knowledge of beads, tools, findings, stringing materials, knotting,etc. It then covers all the basics, from a simple bead on a string, to multistranded necklaces and bracelets and if you have a creative enough mind then you could go on from this to designing your own jewellery. As an introduction to the subject, this is perfect.

A bit used, but in good condition. Delivery was good.

Very good as beginners' book. Clear instructions for some pretty projects. Unfortunately a couple of pages had tears but not reaching text. Will use book a lot.
