Buying in bulk is the ticket
Assuming you'll use it in the not-too-distant future, and keep it well sealed when not in use, the bulk bag is WAY cheaper than the tiny individual pouches. I put some in an old seasoning jar with holes in the top to dispense it. My mollies gobble it, as do most small fish, including fry. The Hikari Marine S pellets, as well as the Hikari Algae wafers, are also sold in bulk, if not here on Amazon, at another online partner. Some of this fish food is so friggin expensive, especially at the LFS (Local Fish Store), I buy it in bulk whenever I can, and always at Amazon if available. I try to buy just about all of my aquarium supplies on Amazon...filters, media, etc., because the markups at the LFS are usually outrageous. Hikari seems to be one of the most expensive brands, but I'd have to say that most fish will chow on most anything Hikari, thus the higher price...ya think? Needless to say, the bulk bags go a long way, just keep them well sealed and refrigerated.

You won't have to buy food for a VERY long time.
I bought this 2lb bag of food about 6 months ago and I've barely made a dent in it. It's going to last me YEARS at this rate. All of my fish of all sizes love it. The semi-sinking is great because it feeds my swimmers and my bottom dwellers! Highly recommend!

Well rounded source of nutrients for your tropical fish - Older food contains MSG
These pellets are an excellent source of nutrients. They are smaller, so fish with smaller mouths can easily eat it.I noticed that my package of micro pellets contain MSG. I contacted (via e-mail) Hikari and I found out the following:Hikari wrote back and said the following: "You must have an older package of the Micro Pellets as MSG has been removed from all of our products as a result of many concerns raised by US consumers. We have used this ingredient in the past, in very small amounts, as a flavor enhancing ingredient. As you may know, this is a commonly used human food ingredient in Asian markets and other parts of the world also. We have done extensive testing before including it (as is the case with any ingredient we use) and found no negative impact on the fish in the short term or long term."Below is a full listing of the nutrient content of this food:INGREDIENTS:Fish meal, wheat flour, flaked corn, brewers dried yeast, gluten meal, krill meal, spirulina, hydrolyzed vegetable sucrose, dehydrated alfalfa meal, dried A niger fermentation extract, monosodium glutamate, garlic, rice bran, DL-methonine soybean meal, dried seaweed meal, astaxanthin, choline chloride, vitamin E supplement, L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (stabilized vitamin C), inositol, calcium pantothenate, riboflavin, vitamin A oil, thiamine mononitrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, niacin, menadone sodium bisulfate complex (source of vitamin K), folic acid, vitamin D3 supplement, biotin, disodium phosphate, salt, ferrous sulfate, magnesium sulfate, zinc sulfate, maganese sulfate, cobalt sulfate, copper sulfate, calcium iodate, blue 2, blue 2 lake, red 3, yellow 5 (artificial colors)GUARANTEED ANALYSIS:Crude Protein - Min 42%Crude Fat - Min 4.0%Crude Fiber - Max 3.0%Moisture - Max 10%Crude Ash - Max 17%Phosphorus - Min 1.0%Enjoy caring for you fish!!

Great product for small tropical fish!
We've been buying these Hikari Micro Pellets in bulk for the past several years and LOVE them. They don't cloud the water and even our neon tetras can eat them. All of our fish have great color as well. We have a 45G planted tank with about 20 fish and one 2.2 lb bag lasts about 6-8 months.
