Nice jar and I love that my grains are contained and making my life easier. The whole comes apart so it can go in the dishwasher. I should have bought the newer version but didn't know it existed. I newer version has a larger basket. I really like this fermenter. The tall jar makes it so that I have a little bit of a grace period when making my kefir. I also like the fact that wide mouth canning jar tops (metal and plastic) fit the jar. Definitely worth the purchase.

I like making things on my own and I was shocked at how easy it is when you have good equipment. The large wide mouth jar made it easy to add the Kefir grains to the milk. If you like Kefir you're going to save money making your own and you're going to enjoy the taste and flavor a lot more than the store brands!

I bought my kefir fermenter and waiting for my grains. it seems pretty smart and useful. however I didn't read the size of the bottle which is 1.5l/ %0oz is too big. I wish they did warned me about different sizes. other than that I don't see any problem.

This lid and jar combo is simple to use and straightforward. Once the grains are activated it is easy enough to set up a rotation with compatible Ball jars. Remember to rinse the grains every so often with cold water, to wash out any kefir from the previous patch and keep the container only 3/4 full. Occasionally you may still need to strain the finished kefir, because the grains tend to multiply rather quickly and as it does some get into the kefir. This is a great product to make kefir making simple in small batches especially for beginners. I started with these grains: Milk Kefir Grains.

I like this jar shape and quality. The fermented gadget itself is useless. Also, because the lid has slits for air, now I have fruit flies all over my house. I still use the jars to ferment my kefir, but I've since purchase a solid plastic covers, and fruit flies cant get to it now, and the are all gone.

I've been making kefir for months now. I saw this product and thought it was a good idea. It's just a $4 glass jar with straw and an undersized plastic grain holder. I bought. A 6 pack of these ball jars for the same price as this product on Amazon at the same time. I stuffed the holder completely and filled it up with milk and I'm coming on 2 full days and it's not ready yet. On top of that, I noticed the plastic lid cracked in 4 places. They could have at least included the metal lid so I could use this jar like a regular jar but no..they just gave me a plastic lid that is now cracked. The container is too small for the jar when it's filled with milk. The concept is good but now that I know I paid like $14 for poorly designed plastic parts, I won't be returning to this company for anything else. I'll stick to regulating how many grains I use myself and straining it like I have been. I guess this would work with half the size jar but it makes me wonder why they'd produce this size?

This bottle makes the best tasting and easiest to make kefir I've ever tried. Don't let it sit at room temperature after it congeals or you'll have Greek style yogurt, which isn't all bad though. That can be drained and made into farmer's cheese or better cream cheese than can be bought a the store - healthier too. It is advisable to wash the grains about every second batch so the kefir doesn't get too strong. Just hold the cup under cold running water. You'll loose some small particles, but the big one will keep growing.

Great product, makes keeping kefir grains separate from curds and whey easy. Don’t have the hassle of picking grains out of strainer or fingering through curds. Large glass can be tricky to clean, but that’s to be expected for the size. Business card “cheat sheet” included for beginners and quick reference. A good place to start any kefir making adventure at a reasonable price.
