This swing bar lock was exactly what I needed to add an extra layer of security to my front door. It’s sturdy, well-made, and the antique brass finish gives it a classic look that blends nicely with my existing hardware. Installation was straightforward all the screws and pieces were included, and it took just a few minutes to attach. The latch feels solid and gives peace of mind when I want to keep the door slightly open for ventilation without unlocking it completely. Matches my door hardware perfectly. I like that this came with two plastic spacers for uneven mounting surfaces. It came with some longer screws which is good but I have French style double doors so these screws would just go straight through the doors. I had some #8 wood screws that worked just fine. I bought this because my 3 year old now can open the front door by herself. I don’t really see this as a good security latch but more like a baby gate. Nothing against this product, but I don’t have full confidence in these style of latches for security. They’re definitely better than the old chain style latches but I think these will easily be kicked in if tested. The chain style latches could easily be cut with cheap bolt cutters that cost less than $20. That would not be the case with this latch. Be sure to drill pilot holes for the screws I used the recommended 7/64 bit for the pilot holes. Worked perfectly.

Very nice high quality hardware. I have a very high end front door that cost over $10k, and that was 20 years ago. The hardware alone cost $1,500. This lock matches it perfectly — and looks like it was made from the same set. That said, I decided not to use it after all and here’s why: if you live with more than one other person, beware that this function of this product could potentially Not work for you as you run the risk of getting locked out. Unless you know for 100% sure that no one in your home would go to bed and lock the door, while you’re still out. For me; with three teenagers and an absent minded spouse — I realized a little too late that this lock will not work for us. Someone will be bound to lock a parent out — whether unintentionally or not. I will save and use it when my kids are out of the house, and it’s just me and my hub left. But until then, I decided not to install it.

Great product for the price. Look no other place for exactly what you are looking for which is a way to see on the other side of the door. Great viewing angles. Be careful when drilling your holes.. I used my Milwaukee hole dozer kit at 7/8 but 5/8 would have been a better size. Be careful also with the blow-out. You can see on all the pictures that almost all the holes made blow out on the exterior side and unless you have spare paint it you might make chips on the other end that is hard to repair. All user-error. I did it, too, but I'm still happy with the the product.

Bought this for our apartment door which has many apartments on our level and including multiple sets of keys for the maintenance and building staff. We wanted something extra to just know if we were home no one was coming in even if they had a key. The door on our apartment was a metal clad wood door so I had to drill a pilot hole which you should do regardless even if it’s just wood. For the part that goes on the frame unfortunately that’s heavy duty metal with more metal behind it and brick. For that I had to buy self taping metal screws, so far over weeks and accidental openings of the door it’s held up hasn’t pulled out, color hasn’t faded. Definitely gives a bit more of protection and the gap isn’t the large when the door opens while it’s in the lock position. I can’t see anyone being able to bypass it unless they use a saws all or something with a long metal cutting blade, realistically if you try to get past this device you will be heard. I’d recommend it if you needed something extra, can also use it to hold a door open slightly if you were coming in and out with a Costco run of supplies.

This door lock is solid. For less than 10 dollars you can buy peace of mind, it's an excellent value for the money. My door edge is not flat, but rounded and it still installed without a problem. Fits relatively flush and works as intended. Sturdy and strong. Buy it.

It was a bit tough for me to put these in, only because I have metal frames. Wood frames will be no trouble. I feel very safe having these on my doors. The look very nice on the doors and have a sturdy thickness to them. That's exactly what you want when looking for something that will fit your needs. They are very durable and give me peace of mind. It took a bit of adjusting to get it to fit just right, but once I did everything came together smoothly.

I looked around at the local hardware stores and even locksmiths for the finish (antique bronze) that I wanted and none had it. They were willing to order it for about 4 times the price I was able to purchase it here. The same bar, same brand. Arrived on time and as expected. The quality looks good.
