My son is 8, will this hat most likely fit him? Or is it for smaller children?

No it should fit him. It fit my 9 year old son.

Will this fit an 8 year old with an above average head?

It fits my tall 9 yr old just fine so I would say yes.

Yeah but hat seems little smaller than usual . Nothing like adult size

is this hat for 4-7 yr old?

It definitely fits a 4-7 year old. My 3 and 4 year olds who have larger heads both wear it all the time and love it. The fit is great and it’s a SnapBack so it will fit for years to come
