Walking with.. Complete Collection (DVD) (Repackaged) Review: A brilliant must-have collection! - Last year 2006, a local channel here in Manila, Philippines aired this series in our local tagalog dialect with local host and titled it "Hayop Na Hayop (great animals)." Unfortunately the tv series ended. However, my 6-yr old son Diego Miguel can't get enough of it and still hopes to catch it again on tv. Good thing I searched this title here at desertcart and upon reading the great reviews decided to do my first purchase in desertcart! I am so excited when it arrived (well upon paying almost the same amount of duties and taxes here) and surprised my son with this box collection! He was so happy!!! Now the whole family is enjoying this brilliant collection! I highly recommend WALKING WITH DINOSAUR COLLECTION to everyone!!! Thanks desertcart! Review: Fun watch - Great movie fun watch might be old in scientific standards but fun

Learning about dinosaurs made fun
My children love to learn about everything. They want to know how it works, where it came from, how big were the dinosaurs and what creatures are in the ocean so this worked well for us. My daughter is learning about dinosaurs in school and had to do a report on diplodocus with three different sources. It was fun to read all the books but being able to sit down and watch the movie was great. It brought everything to life for my children. My son is starting a dinosaur segment in preschool and is already excited to tell his teacher about what he learned from the movie. We spread it out over a few days and watched it after dinner as a family. The children got to watch a movie and learned a lot in the process. We are looking for more sets like this one to add to our collection.

Especially good for kids that are into science
This is an amazing documentary. I remember checking it out from my local library when I was little. I think it definitely still holds up today. I'm sure some of the science has changed and evolved but that's what this series is all about. I would recommend this to anyone who is into science, evolution, prehistoric creatures, and life on this earth as a whole.

Incomplete...
These videos are decidedly excellent. Definitely a must-have for dinosaur fanatics, lovers of paleontology and science teachers. I first saw Walking with Prehistoric Beasts as a summer camp instructor at the San Diego Natural History Museum, and it absolutely blew my mind. Paleontology has changed drastically since my childhood obsession with it was fed by mid-80's NOVA specials on PBS, and this series elegantly blends decades of research with realistic CG and animatronics. I feel that I would be hard-pressed to find someone who WOULDN'T like these videos. On the other hand, I was disappointed to find that this isn't truly a "Complete Walking with..." collection, in that Walking with Monsters (life before the dinosaurs) was not included.

Fun Dinosaur Documentary
Honestly this is probably my favorite prehistoric documentary series. Walking With Dinosaurs is a real fun documentary to watch, and even though much of the information in the documentary is outdated, it is a very entertaining documentary that set the standard for future dinosaur documentaries. Walking With Beasts was just as entertaining and the facts (as of me writing this review and to my knowledge) hold up well today. The soundtrack is great in both.

Really engaged my 12-year-old
My daughter saw part of this DVD and school and was so enthusastic about sharing it with me that we ended up purchasing it when we weren't able to rent it from any local video store. As she had not shown interest in dinosaurs or paleontology before, I was surprised at her insistence that we see it, but when we watched it together, I understood why she found it so compelling. It is done in the style of a wildlife documentary, and the effects are so realistic that it is easy to "go along for the ride" and believe that you are watching dinosaurs being filmed in their natural habitat. The storytelling is also quite engaging. The best part was my daughter's enjoyment of it; I haven't seen anything but manga have quite the same hold over her imagination!

Autistic son's dream come true!
My autistic son has a fixation for dinosaurs. He has these on VHS but we no longer have a VCR so he's been so sad. I got him this set for his birthday and he was ecstatic! The collection is great! The quality is also good, granted we have a 4K ultra HD tv. The content of the set is fascinating!

My 4 year old loves watching this so much I am now hearing Kenneth Brannagh's voice in my sleep! This is a truly amazing package of videos. The BBC definitely leads the way in dinosaur "edu-tainment", and National geographic is just starting to catch up. If you have kids into dinosaurs, these 5 dvds will keep them entertained on a drive from Halifax to Vancouver! Highly recommend. Chock full of dinosaurs eating each other, which seems to be a favourite for my guy...

The BBC Walk With... series include: Walking With Dinosaurs - The first one to be made, using computer graphics to create footage of how live dinosaurs might have looked like. Walking WIth Beasts - That shows what creatures came after the dinosaurs became extinct. Walking With Monsters - Showing what came before, from the oldest fossils up to the arrival of dinosaurs. Despite what a misleading title would suggest, the latter Walking With Monsters is not included.

I purchased this collection for my younger son as a birthday present recently. Previously we had viewed some of the episodes at a relative's and he and been fascinated by them. A year and a half ago we had also seen the Walking With Dinosaurs show in Calgary--and that was a real hook, because the animatronic models were fantastic--something that is carried over into the films. The series is full of colour and drama as viewers follow the life cycle of one type of dinosaur and all the others that it might have contact with. The narration is informative but not excessive, and the creatures lives play out without sparing the threat and potential violence--but the violence is not gratuitous. It's not at all "cutesy", but is very dramatic. My now 8 year old is able to spout dinosaur facts at me endlessly and is moved by the struggles of the ancient creatures, without being frightened. An excellent series for all ages.

We, my grandchildren and I, all like it. But the quality looks like a b-copy, a little bit blur, not clear and sharp. Hope the have blue-ray one.
