THICKEST & BEST Shampoo I Could Find ANYWHERE!
I swear, every shampoo manufacturer known to mankind has been thinning its formulation down to the wateriest version they can get people to still buy. So frustrating. The thing is, a thick, concentrated shampoo is so much more effective at cleaning your hair, and such a much better value for the customer. But in the era of never-ending corporate greed, they want you to buy more, More... MORE. So, the shampoo manufacturers have nearly all made their products thinner to force you use more, and buy more product more often. Shameless. But, not all of them.I made it my mission to find a shampoo that is thick, effective, and affordable. It took months of testing, but in the end I rediscovered Prell, and what a relief that was. Prell was around in the 80s when I was a kid, but I never thought much about it until recently. After trying dozens of shampoos over the last half-a-year, when I opened the container of Prell for the first time in decades, I immediately knew my search was finally over. What a relief!Prell is so well formulated. The viscosity of this shampoo is the thickest I have found on the market today (February 2026). I can use the smallest dot in my hand and my hair gets perfectly clean so quickly and easily. I can put slightly more on my bath brush and scrub my entire body thoroughly and effectively. This product is so amazing. It is refreshing to find a manufacturer that is still committed to making the best product they can, and not the most money they can. Bravo, shampoo people! I'm so glad to rediscover your amazing product! Its quality speaks so highly of your respect and commitment to your customers. For all of us... Thank You!Hope this helps! As always: Be Well, Buy Smart... And see you in the next review!

Soft!!!! Magic!!!! Really does put the ooooo in shampoo!
This shampoo took a month to ship to me. Idk why. But it was worth the wait. Well worth the wait. 5 stars anyway because sweet baby savior, this shampoo is heaven sent!Prell, what is this magic?!?! My hair is now squeaky clean but somehow softer and easier to detangle than when I was using sulfate free shampoo. This shampoo clarified my hair better than my Ion hard water chelating shampoo. Better than other similarly priced sulfate containing shampoo like suave coconut oil. I don’t use conditioner as my medium to fine naturally curly (3B) hair hates cationic conditioning ingredients. I also don’t use any styling products because I hate the feeling of product in my hair. I was using herbal essence eucalyptus volumizing shampoo and nothing else. I thought my hair was clean. I thought it didn’t have build up. I thought my other hard water chelating shampoo and sulfate containing shampoo was clarifying. I was wrong.Let me tell you sis you don’t know what your hair actually feels like until you use Prell. Other clarifying/ chelating shampoos out there are a lie! A lie from the Prince of lies! They don’t actually clarify and clean the hair as well as Prell.Another lie that has been foisted upon consumers, one that I bought into because I have curly hair, is that sulfates are somehow “too stripping” and will “dry out your hair.” I thought that for a long time but I was wrong. We were all wrong sis. I don’t know how Prell did it. There are no cationic conditioners, film formers, or humectant ingredients in this shampoo. Yet somehow my hair detangled better with the shampoo even without conditioner than the more “gentle” sulfate feee shampoo. Both shampoos were used without conditioner. Prell is infinitely better! My hair is somehow softer, fluffier, lighter, shinier, more volumized yet easy to detangle with Prell than with the herbal essence sulfate free volumizing shampoo. Compared to Prell, that shampoo has no right to call itself volumizing. Prell brought volume to my long hip length- yes hip length!- dense, curly hair. Do you see how long my hair is in those photos? And I have no layers in my hair, just fringe pieces at the front. Yet my roots are so much fluffier and more volumized! Those vintage Prell ads were not lying!! Prell really does put the ooooo in shampoo, it really will take your hair from flat to fluffy, and it really will make your hair softer, shinier, cleaner than the competition!!I can’t tell you how much time, energy, and money I’ve spent searching for a way to add something to my hair to make it this soft. Whoever demonized sulfates was clearly trying to make a buck. I thought my hair was dry and misbehaved because it’s curly and that it needed tons of product to look nice. But take a look at my pictures. Look those curl clumps! I did not style those! I did not put product on them. No gel! No mousse! No conditioner! Just this shampoo! I brushed them in the shower and then left them alone! They clumped by themselves perfectly into fluffy, soft, shiny curls!! I didn’t have to do anything!! I was blown away. Imagine if I had bothered to style my curls! Now the fragrance of the shampoo is nice. It’s floral and reminds me of the classic floral sunscreen smell- it’s got that classic “jasmine note” that a lot of sunscreens like to use. It’s pretty. But it dissipates within a few hours after washing. It’s by no means a major scent bomb but that’s fine because there are other ways to keep your hair scented throughout the day and not everyone will like strong fragrance. Some may find the fragrance nostalgic but idk because I’ve never smelled the original. This is the most effective shampoo on the market. And I can say that because I have 5 other shampoos sitting in my shower right now besides Prell. I’ve tried a lot. Some have sulfates and some don’t. But all of them have some BS in them- except Prell. Prell takes the cake!May this shampoo always be available for generations to come. May all the blessings be with the inventor and owner of this shampoo brand and may both sides of their pillows always stay cool!

Best shampoo I've used in years
I was actually looking for a clarifying shampoo for my curly hair to use once in a while to get the buildup of mousse and gel out and stumbled upon Prell. I'd used Prell as a regular shampoo years ago, golly, probably dating back to the 70's, and decided to give it a try and wow, I'm glad I did. First time in years that my hair is actually squeaky clean! And I do mean squeaky! But it's also soft and shiny. No idea how the Prell company does it but yes, this beats every other shampoo I've used in recent years, even those marketed to curly girls. And the price was very low in comparison to the shampoos I'd been using. Prell shampoo is a keeper for me!

Wow, Prell is still around! Beware confusing labeling and controversial ingredients
Before my hairdresser recently recommended Prell, I didn't think this was around anymore; I just remember the t.v. ads from when I was a little girl. Nope, still around. And to make things more interesting is that this is a very polarizing, sometimes controversial shampoo. When my hairdresser recommended Prell, I was hesitant to try it because I tend to use beauty products that are derived from "natural" ingredients, without parabens, sulfates, alcohol. I have color treated, fine hair but lots of it; although it is naturally wavy, it has been limp and I've been trying to find ways to get more volume. It was suggested to me, aside from putting in some layers, that Prell would get rid of mineral build-up which has been part of the no volume proble. Needless to say, Prell is quite the opposite of my other shampoos so I read up reviews and opinions on it. Bottom line, people seem to either absolutely love it or hate it. The most controversial ingredient is Cocamide MEA, a surfactant derived from coconut oil. A surfactant makes shampoo foamy and adds viscosity. Even though it's derived from the much loved natural product coconut oil does not give it an automatic ride on safety or effectiveness. Do some research into this notorious ingredient and make an informed decision. From what I've gathered, Cocamide MEA in low concentrations has little to none toxicity when used dermally/topically in a non- vapor form. This is especially so in formulas that are promptly rinsed off. Prell also contains ingredients that have been known to strip color which for some people is the biggest issue. BecauseI only wash my hair 1-2 times a week I decided to try using it every third shampoo, just to get rid of build-up and goo in my hair. When I went to order Prell, I was little overwhelmed because there isn't just one type anymore and to make matters worse the same formulation is shown coming with both a white cap and a blue cap. I ordered Classic Prell with the blue top. I received Prell Classic Clean with a white top! The ingredients are the same from what I can tell. But one star off for that confusion. So far, I have found I only needed a quarter-size amount to get lots of lather on my shoulder length hair. My hair was squeaky clean and did have more volume after using Prell. The smell is refreshing while using it but not long-lasting. I don't find it drying but that may be different for those who wash their hair more often. So far, it hasn't stripped color out either. Again, this may be different for those that use it more often. I will continue to only use it every few washes and be on the lookout for color fading.
