Works perfect for telling a real diamond from cubic zirconia, glass etc. I purchased this to check jewelry I find metal detecting. Unfortunately, the “diamonds” I have found so far all turned out to be fake. :(

It took some time for the diamond detector to arrive but it came today. I found a loose diamond in Guam that I was dying to test. It's not real, I am bummed. I tested the watch face of my Fenix 5X with sapphire glass. It tested positive. I also texted my wedding ring and my husbands wedding ring. Positive. I got a metal detector for Christmas and I have been out detecting every day. I can't wait to find my first diamond ring so I can test it!! Great Buy. So inexpensive how can you not own one of these guys?

My grandson bought this to have fun and to test diamonds as a project. It was accurate every time he used it.

It is probably a very good tester. I just had a little bit of trouble interpreting the readings. I wish there were clearer instructions on how to use this instrument properly.

Detects CZs without issue but fails on moissanite stones that test as diamonds. Also very tough to test smaller stones since the probe always beeps detecting the nearby metal prongs. The product name may need to be revised or at least post a disclosure since the simulant lab stone with higher refractive index falsely test as diamond.
