These are the BEST fountain pens
I try a lot of different fountain pens but I keep coming back to these. They are easy to clean, sturdy, smooth to write with, the lids screw on so there's no malfunctioning like the snap on caps that so many others use, easy to throw in a bag, and they are comfortable to write with. I have probably collected 10 of these over the years and I'm finding (thanks to stay at home working and the opportunity for organizing) that the other pens I have purchased just don't hold up. I have yet to have any issues with these leaking while using. I did have one that developed a leak (I found it in the bottom of an old travel bag so it had been a while since I'd used it) but the ink pooled in the cap and not over everything else. After cleaning it all up (warm water is all it took) the pen works fine again! The small, flat nib gives your writing an extra flourish and I get compliments all the time about how nice my hand writing is just on notes I've taken at work. The ink cartridges are the standard, universal cartridge so refills are easy to find and inexpensive.

the Plumix has become a "go to" pen for all my projects
there's no question that i have a pen fetish and as i discover new pens and products, i can look over my collection and see that it is a wide variety. one thing that i prove to myself over and over - is that there a few pens that rise to the top and become my "go to" items and are true staples in a seemingly vast collection. the ink pen that i use everyday and keep stocked up on is the G2 PILOT (blue gel ink only) in a medium point or the new larger 1.0mm bold cartridge. for whatever reason, i don't think ANY of the other colors of ink in this series writes as well or as smoothly. now on to the PILOT PLUMIX FOUNTAIN PEN. i first came across this pen in TARGET, who carried the pen for a very short period of time. i was able to buy one and then i never found it again in any store - but i hung on to the original pen as a reminder to keep an eye out for it...... finally, a friend turned me on to Amazon and i was able (after 2 years) get the Plumix pen again. now, here's what i love about the pen - i actually write BETTER when i use the fountain pen. it forces me to take my time and with a calligraphy inspired nib - i'm able to write in a style that has beautiful curves and my handwriting is instantly improved. it seems cheesy to suggest that the pen is magical, but the bottom line is that the effect is magical and this pen has become one of the top "go to " items that i use in daily writing etc...... HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND this cool pen.

OK pen but not a normal writing nib (it looks italic)
Edited review to give back another star - because this pen is mechanically super simple and is easy to take apart and clean fully. But caveat remains that these Plumix pens are more for calligraphy and less for daily writing, and they don't appear to have a more traditional style nib available. And and, Pilot doesn't sell aftermarket nibs for these pens though they are cross compatible with other pens like the Metropolitan. (end of edit). I do like this pen, and it was inexpensive. It looks great in light blue. It's not what I would consider a normal writing pen though, the nib is flat and wide like a calligraphy or italic nib. Normal pilot nibs for writing have a ball shape at the end. This is OK, but it means it tends to snag the paper or not lay down ink fast enough if one writes too as quickly so it's not well suited for fast writing. But if you write slowly it's ok. I will continue to use this pen, but less frequently than my other pens. I will also play around with adjusting the nib to see if that improves ink flow a bit. The blue that comes with the pen is a great hue and is inexpensive, and I think it would be possible to use this pen with a dropper (dropper the ink straight into the barrel) if one used a bit of silicon grease on the barrel threads. And it apparently works with a pilot converter if one wanted to go that route. So, this is a versatile pen, and may be best suited for folks looking to do fancy calligraphy style writing. On a side note, the nib is not removable because when I pulled it out it took the whole ink mechanism with it, but it doesn't look broken. Also, when I first loaded it with an ink cart I thought perhaps it broke as it is plastic, and it was hard to get it to pierce the cart, and when it did there was ink spreading within the pen between its internal parts. However, it did not leak, and both the cap and the barrel are sealed, which makes a leak much less likely. I am soaking the pen in water to clean it now, and the ink stuck between the internal parts does not come out. This is more cosmetic than anything, but beware if you have a light barrel color and you use black ink at some point.

Impressive pen!
I cannot say enough good things about this pen! I love the shade of blue ink shipped with it. The nib is perfect for calligraphy work. The ink flows effortlessly and the lines it produces are nice and crisp. I'm really enjoying using it. I would consider this a great pen for beginners based on all its qualities and value for the money. I find that I can write for a long time without tiring my hand since the pen is so light and the width is perfect for my hand. It's not fancy or expensive which to me is what makes it a perfect EDC pen to take everywhere. I'm planning on getting at least a couple more to have with different color inks. :0)

Pilot Fountain Pen
This is a really great fountain pen! About a year ago I got one like this and loved how it wrote, and made my writing look unique, like a real foundtian pen should. Since then I have run out of ink and couldn't find another pen or refill, and tried to find another fountain pen, that isn't $50 that will write like this one did, but didn't happen. So I was so happy to see this pen on here and made sure I got a few. I hope that the website on the back of the pen will provide lots of refills, since I tend to write more with this pen. The ink flows nicely and doesn't run and stain things like other cheaper and some mroe expensive fountain pens do. The pen feels great in my hand and I love the smooth writing. Great pen to have to write letters, or to just take some notes! But be sure to get some refills, you will find that you run out of ink fast! (Since you will love writing with it!)

Messy But Like Italic
I got this fountain pen because it was inexpensive and I thought it would be a better step up from the Pilot Varsity Disposable Fountain Pen Assorted Ink 7-Pack Pouch (90029) . It's too messy, though. No instructions on how to install the ink cartridge. I get ink all over my fingers. The cap get stuck easily. The ink would not flow. It stopped working the day I got it. The only redeeming quality is the italic nib. I like the italic nib, It gives my writing such flair! If, however, you are used to installing cartridges, then by all means buy it. I also like that it is lightweight and easy to hold. I just think Lamy is a bit easier. I bought a Lamy Safari Fountain Pen, Blue (L14M) and it is much easier to install. You can buy italic nibs for on them.

Great inexpensive stub nib and lightweight writer
The grip on this pen is super comfortable for the way I hold pens. This too writes reliably and smoothly, like the Metropolitan. Nice pen to carry around since it's inexpensive. The stub nib is my favorite, as compared to a F or M nib. I would compare the way it writes to my Lamy Joy which has a 1.1 italic nib. Ordered a second one because I like using it so much. (this was my second pen. The first was blue.)

It's a great, inexpensive stub
This is one of my favorite stub nibs for any fountain pen. It performs better than every other stock stub I've used (not serviced by a nibmeister). It has great quality and the whole pen costs less than just the nib (or nib unit) for most pens. If you don't like the body (it's easy to hold but isn't very professional looking), you can remove the nib and feed together and swap it into a Pilot Metropolitan or a Pilot Explorer, for example. Great performance and quality.

Scratchy.
I expected better from Pilot. These have scratchy nibs even on smooth papers like clairfontaine or midori.
