Product Description Designed by Jiro Horikoshi, the Mitsubishi J2M could fly faster - and climb even higher - than the celebrated A6M Zero. The J2M3 Type 21 was distinguished by a powerful MK4R-A Kasei 23a engine, two wing-mounted 20 mm Type 99 Model I cannons and two wing-mounted 20 mm Type 99 Model II cannons. While it was no match for the Allies' P-51D Mustang, the J2M3 was rather successful against strategic bombers like the B-29 Superfortress. The detailed pilot figure is posable in various flying positions and is a bonus more manufacturers should adopt. The detailed cockpit is a small project by itself and the fuselage is reinforced with bulkheads as well as the wings having runners to ensure lasting stiffness. The detailed engine is mostly hidden and the props are designed for different flight modes. The wings are held in place with a spar system which ensures positive fit and strength over the long haul. The biggest problem is the engine cowling for this model is wrong for this item as it has two gun ports which must be plugs which are supplied.Also the gun barrels must have the ports drilled out at the right angle to install the guns in the wings. Recommended for all modelers hoping for a great experience with a WWII classic in large scale!
