Carson LED 1.5x Lighted Hand Held 5.0'' Magnifier with 4.5x Spot Lens (SV-55GL)

This is a marvelous addition to my stash of magnifying glasses - it's not too heavy but wide enough to allow me to do the crossword puzzle. The light is bright and makes all the difference in trying to decipher print, particularly newsprint. I have Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma so welcome this particular glass with great enthusiasm. I have shown it to my opthamalogist and he was also enthusiastic and will recommend it to his other patients !

This provides great magnification for reading. But I have not been able to open the little slot on the handle to insert a battery for the light to turn on. I have tried over and over but cannot open the battery compartment!

Bought as gift for my 92 year old Mom and she loves being able to actually read the fine print on everything from medicine bottles to a special dictionary she has . Also can see the tiny labels on buttons of remote controls etc. The lighting feature really helps and the optics are great for the price !

It is a very good magnifying glass in which the light plays a prominent role.
