DMC-03 Multi-Function Pedometer

I should've read the reviews first! If I could leave zero stars then I would. This pedometer is not accurate at all. I've worn it for an hour or two and it registered 200 steps although I was moving for the entire time and know that I walked way more than that. The case is also extremely difficult to open but then it falls open while you are wearing it. Then, when I tried to return it since it doesn't work properly, I was told they don't take returns. I liked this product because it was an American company but the instructions were written by someone who doesn't speak English, I'm sure.

I've been using one of these DMC-03 pedometers since 05/18/08, which speaks to its dependability. Once a week, I record my steps, press the Clear button to reset it, and I'm good for another week. I keep a spreadsheet that does all the totaling and converting for me, so one number does the trick. The reason I give it a five-star rating is because it does one job so simply and dependably, and at such a modest price. It is featherweight, unobtrusive (mine is black, and I can wear to a black tie dinner without attracting attention), and airport friendly. It has been with me every step of the way hiking around the Sonoran Desert, the Tetons and Rockies and Adirondacks, and never missed beat. I've probably had five or six pedometers in the past. Some have been really quite expensive. Even with tethers, they somehow get lost. They break. They are bulky and cumbersome. This little DMC-03 pedometer is perfect for my needs. It is a simple little beauty. P.S. I originally bought three because they were so inexpensive and I'd seen a complaint about their construction. Two and a half years later, I'm still with my first -- so much for the complaint. The other two are in unused in a drawer. A few days ago, I purchased two more (red and green) and had them sent to a friend who is in physical rehab. I thought the reinforcement they provide might be helpful.

This pedometer measures steps, miles, km, and calories. There is no way to calibrate for your step length so the last three measurements are averages. This is why I gave it only 4 stars. To be fair, I knew that it wouldn't have that option when I bought it, but it is a minor shortcoming. I found the steps to be pretty accurate. I did a test of 200 steps and it was off by 6 steps. It could have been when I bent down to pick up the paper, but that's only 3%, which is 300 steps in a 10,000 step day. I love that it has a cover and doesn't reset accidentally. The belt clip is very sturdy and won't come off. I've even carried it in the 5th pocket of my jeans and gotten great results. The way the cover comes off while it's on your belt let's you easily see your step count with out taking it off.

It won't even count my steps, it has a chip in the paint and the leash that I bought with it doesn't even have a place to tie it on to... DO NOT BUY!

I am very happy with the pedometer and the shish kabob set. Flags of our Fathers was a good movie. BUT, I am very disappointed that Letters of Iwo Jima will not play and our screen just shows our DVD is dirty. NOT so, since we played 2 other movies just fine; same night.

The DMC-03 pedometer is a basic pedometer with all the limitations of a unit at its price point. While the accuracy is nothing to write home about, its not too bad either. However, two major issues * The measurement unit is fitted into the case and often, when opening the case, slips out of the case and falls down. * The unit functions by tracking a vertical (up-down) movement and so has to be clipped to your belt. Clipping it to your shirt pocket, for instance, will not record a proper step count.

Although it might not be 100% accurate (no pedometer really is), it does the job properly. It gives you an idea of your daily activity, close enough to reality. When I first bought it, I thought it is a tri-axial type of device (the one that one could carry it in ones pocket, for instance, or hanged by the neck). This one has to be into a horizontal position in order to record the steps. I clip it by the pants' pocket, hanging Inside, so it won't fall off (if it falls, it falls into the pocket). I will buy some more in the future.

This is the worst thing I've ever purchased off Amazon. This thing doesn't count your steps one bit. There is a ball-like substance on the inside and what it does is count how many times that moves, not you. If you shake the pedometer thus making the ball on the inside move, it will count steps. I wore it all day with no results until I realized that's what it was. I ended up purchasing an Omron Gosmart for $22 bucks and it works amazing. Also, returning was almost impossible. Save yourself the headache.
