Could I use this globe as an alternative wedding sign in book or would the pen/marker just smear while writing?

#1,the globe is a good scale for general locating and observation and is beautiful on display, but unless you have very few guests invited and they all live in a different state or country, they scale is much too small for their location to mean anything.  The paper is very glossy and hard so I am not sure if the ink could penetrate it.  You would really ruin the globe by doing that for all practical purposes.  One alternative idea would be to let each guest, again, if there were only a few, write their name on a little piece of paper, maybe in the shape of a mini banner and pin that onto their state.  As I said, the scale is not large enough for this to be meaningful for a lot of guests.  Hope this helps.  Jack & Pat Ward

Is the semi-meridian made of metal? Does the globe and base seem stable/sturdy?

Hello. The meridian bar is made out of plastic and the base of metal. The base is sturdy but i would hold it while spinning it.

Does it have Taiwan a separate country than China?

It's the same color as China, which makes it appear to be the same country, yet it's in all caps which is the same as the other actual countries, which makes it appear like it's own country.  So, I'm not totally sure if that is a yes or a no.

Israel is on my globe.  It is very tiny print, and very hard to see.
