Great if you have adopted the Switchbot Eco System
I recently purchased the Switchbot Curtain Rod 2 and installed this is my bedroom. They work fantastically, but it was a little frustrating having to open the app every time i wanted to open/close the curtains. The app is very well designed but it just felt like a faff to keep going into my phone every time. As a result i decided to order the swithbot button which works great. On further research i came across the hub mini which allows your switchbot devices to connect with Alexa/Google Home. Having a ton of alexas in our home i thought i would order and give it a try.The hub mini is a very small and compact device. Installation was super easy, connect to a USB power source (cable but no plug included - however i just plugged the included USB lead into a wall socket with USB power points). Connecting the hub to the app was again very simple - the app walks you through this. Within a couple of minutes i had linked the hub to the relevant switchbot Alexa skill and voila - my curtains were now Alexa controlled! Once connected to your wifi network you can also remotely control devices away from your home environment, such as opening your curtains from work or even abroad! Fantastic for security. What i was not aware of is that the hub mini also has an infrared sender, so you can set this little guy up to control your other smart devices - this includes your TV, Projectors, Sky etc. Programming the device to control my Optoma projector was a piece of cake - the app again walks you through this and inputing the manufacturer and model number of your smart device finds the relevant IR codes. You then walk through a test screen to ensure the buttons are all doing what they are suppost to do. If any of the buttons don't work properly or your device is not known then the app allows you to send your own IR codes directly by pointing your remote at the hub and pressing the relevant button. It auto learns this code and programmes the remote in the switchbot app.Overall if you have switchbot devices then the hub mini is a must! It's good value and has a ton of extra features that i didn't even know it had.I hope that you found my review helpful.

Works well as a BLE hub
I've revised my review from 1 star to 5 stars because initially I found that the first mini hub I had appeared to not work with my SB meters but then SB reached out to me, we discussed the problems and they sent me a replacement mini hub, which works well. :-) The SB devices automatically connect with the hub once they and the hub are registered with the SB smart phone app. The app shows the signal strength of each device the hub is connected to and with more than one hub (I now have 2) some devices can be connected to multiple hubs and it somehow sorts itself out and the SB app can display all of the SB meter data from around my house.I also found that my SB Meter Pro can now display an alternative temperature to the one it measures that can be sourced from internet weather data or from one of the other connected meters and it also displays a weather indicator based on the internet derived weather data.I just now need to figure out what to do with with all the temperature and humidity data I'm now gathering!

A good upgrade for my blind tilt
I got this to control a SwitchBot Blind Tilt via Alexa so I could set my blinds to close at sunrise and sunset as the light sensor on the blind tilt wasn't accurate enough. This was a bit tricky to set up - i showed up in the app without a problem, but the blind tilt wouldn't come online through it. I restarted the app and it applied a software update to the hub, but it still didn't work. I ended up removing the hub from the app and adding it again, with it still not working I did the same with the hub. After that it started working and it came across into Alexa.Once I got it working, it works well. I had a power cut today and it all came up fine when the power came back on, so it all looks good now and works really well. I think it is good value too.

My last resort, but fits the need
I bought a pair of these to use as IR repeaters to automate some fans. I would have preferred to use Zigbee smart plugs instead, but my fans do not turn on automatically when power is connected at the mains. Using the Switchbot hubs allowed me to use them as IR blasters to turn the fans on and off through my automations so they do work in the end, but Switchbot will always be a last resort as the products have quite a few flaws.First of all the hubs are WiFi only, besides my robot vacuum, the 3 Switchbots I have are the only smart devices connected to my Wifi. Wifi is not good tech for a home full of smart devices because of limited range and a congested network degrades performance for your other devices (laptops, computers, phones, tablets, streaming devices, etc).Second they operate through the cloud instead of having local control which is extremely slow and not as secure. Ok, so if someone hacked my Switchbot maybe they could only control my fans and kitchen light, but they could also use any vulnerability in the Switchbot to gain access to the rest of the network.Third, they are just not very reliable at all. Often times the app will state an error occurred and you have to repeat your command several times, that just doesn't work well for automations, especially when you can't get the current status, which brings me to my last point...Lastly, there is no way to get the current status of the IR devices it controls, so if you tell it to turn on or off and Switchbot throws an error, drops its connection, has packet loss, etc, you have no way to know if the device turned on or off. That's not really the fault of Switchbot, but a limitation of using IR (and thus switchbot) for home automations. Also, the range and angle of the IR blaster is very poor so strategically placing them out of sight and near a USB outlet while still being able to reach your devices is difficult. So yeah, they kind of work and fill a need, but they just aren't that great overall. If you have only a few devices on your WiFi network, will be placing the hub near your access point, will only be using the Switchbot app on your phone and don't mind it ignoring your command or throwing an error, then go ahead and get one. If you need to place it far from your router, have too many devices on your network, care about security, speed and reliability, or will be using it for automations, think long and hard if you are willing to put up with its many issues and shortcomings.

Great followup service from Switchbot
UPDATE: Switchbot contacted me because of my previous review of one star because I couldn't connect the device, and offered me a free upgrade to a Hub 2. I have now just changed my router and, after a lot of help from ChatGPT, have managed to connect the original hub!I think the problem was between the mouse and the chair at my end!I have no hesitation in changing my review to five stars. That was a fantastic offer from Switchbot and I'm pleased I didn't have to take them up on it.

Support so bad it ruins the system.
The device has issues but is largely functional. It would be a 3 star review highlighting that the hubs struggle to connect to all switchbot devices and do not have good troubleshooting, however I have been dealing with switchbot customer support for 18 months trying to resolve the issues with the two hubs. The support service uses ai chat bots to respond to emails, they hallucinate and make impossible requests. If you call the company out on this they will point out it is your fault for trusting a chat bot.The technical team will not talk to customers so you have to talk to middlemen, who dont actually know the apps or devices, they will also give advice that has clearly come from the AI as it again asks you to do impossible things, I suspect they may not even have a technical support team any more.If your device works out of the box, great news, of not return it, there is no chance the support team will fix anything that isn't solved by restarting the device.Oh and expect support to stop communicating for months at a time and then start over as if you haven't already worked through all their proposed solutions.

Only Supports 4 matter devices, but Switchbot made it right
The device was advertised as supporting 8 matter devices (still not a lot), but in fact it only supports 4. Switchbot has since then changed the description to mention the 4 device limit. I've returned the Hub Mini Matter and Switchbot has generously send me a free Hub 2 Matter, which supports 8 matter devices.

In Google Home automatiseringen toevoegen. "Televisie aan" met als starter: Hey Google televisie aanActies:Tv-aanTopboxBeide op "aanzetten"6. In Google Home automatiseringen toevoegen. "Televisie uit" met als starter: Hey Google televisie uitActies:Tv-uitTopboxBeide op "uitzetten".That's all.
