Bacher Leather Strop - 32 cm, Knife Sharpening Paddle, 4 Compounds & Balm

I am a keen chef and have always wanted a repeat rolled steel kitchen knife. I finally took the plunge and bought one. It clearly states to ONLY use a strop for this knife, as the cutting angle is different from a 'normal' knife. This strop comes with very clear instructions that match exactly with those that the knife comes with (always a good sign). It is a great size (not the 4" / 11cm, that others seem to be). It is excellent material, with the two grades of leather clearly noticeable on each side. Great to use and very, very good value for money. Even more so with an expensive, scalpel-sharp knife.

I have not used yet but the quality looks good and it is a good size. It would be useful if the supplied compounds were given a numerical value as to the grade rather than medium or fine etc.otherwise I am satisfied

This product is absolute quality 👌🏻.Using the medium and the fine compound my bushcraft knives & axes are now shaving sharp.Being an ex chef and now training as a bushcraft instructor the importance of sharp tools is just as prominent outside of the kitchen as it was in it… sharp tools stop accidents from happening because less force is required when using them… so from me a decent strop like a decent steel should be part of everyone’s kit… quality of sharpen kit is just as important as the quality of your tools.. 5 stars from me 😎

The product arrived before the anticipated date and was well packaged, so that was a good start. The strop is beautifully finished and the wood used is beech. The leather panels are a good size and of superb quality.Included were four small pots of polishing compound and some lanolin for dressing the leather. The actual amounts of compound are tiny, but it is enough to get you started and will then allow you to choose what compound to purchase in larger quantities.There is a small instruction leaflet suggesting what compound to apply to each leather panel and how to have the correct blade angle. This wasn't the first time I have used a strop for final sharpening of blades, so I jumped straight in.The results are soon achieved and it really does not take long to obtain a very good edge.I am pleased with this product and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. You owe it to yourself to have the sharpest knives as they actually reduce the risk of injury. They require so much less effort to cut and less pressure means a much smaller risk of a slip.

Update 12/30/25: I bought a second strop, and at the recommendation of a Youtube video I decided to try out the strop with some diamond stropping compound applied to the leather after first sanding it with 120 grit sandpaper, and wow does it make a difference! The diamond compound lasts way longer than any of the waxy compound that's included does, and it not only does it remove the burr but it polishes the edge of the knife as well. My knife's edge was literally shaving hair like a barber's razor after stropping with the compound! Seriously, I really recommend you look into buying diamond compound or diamond emulsion along with this strop. I put 1 micron on the smooth side and 4 micron on the rough side, works well for me. It's a bit pricey to buy the good brands of stropping compound. But it makes a world of a difference in stropping. It really takes this Bacher strop to the next level.Original review: As the title says, this strop has allowed me to take my knives to the next level of sharpness, to get my kitchen and pocket knives slicing cleanly and removing any burrs which can cause hang ups after sharpening. I followed the instruction manual's recommendation and i put the white (fine) compound on the rougher side and green (very fine) compound on the finer side and its been working beautifully for me. Using a light touch, not putting too much pressure just basically the weight of the blade and ensuring im hitting the apex at the right angle, my knives are taken to this next level of sharpness that I'm looking for. It can also revive the edge of a knife that I can tell is getting dull from use, and maintain that edge longer before I have to sharpen it. The handle and wood is great quality, the leather is layed out very even and flat, it comes with 4 different compounds, some polishing wax, and some little paddles to help apply and spread the compound. for the price you can't beat it.

Das Abziehleder ist qualitativ hochwertig und gut verarbeitet. Auf die grobere und die feinere Lederseite können unterschiedliche Schleifpasten aufgetragen werden. Die mitgelieferten Schleifpasten funktionieren sehr gut und sorgen für rasiermesserscharfe Klingen. Ich bin mit dem Produkt sehr zufrieden.
